I wouldn't touch Cleary. Gagne is easily the better player. Both have their share of injuries. Personally if grit is what everyone is looking for on the third line, my choice is Brenden Morrow. Cleary's recent playoff points mean nothing because he had a below average season. We signed Shelley based on two late season goals and Talbot based on his 09 two goals in the cup final. So what. Not interested.

I think the argument isn't who's better, but who's better for us? Who has the superior two-way game? Cleary is grittier than Gagne, which our 3rd line could use. Can Cleary be had for cheaper than Gagne? Is Cleary going to be the locker room role model that Gagne is? Can Cleary be relied on to stay healthy? Can Gagne? "Who is the better player?" actually isn't the most important question for this specific role.
