Lu should be at least 87. 85 is too low. I think a fair # is 88-89 with the off year he had. Realistically I put him at 90-92 and that is what he is capable of.
85 is where I would put Devan Dubnyk, not Luongo. |

The annoying thing to me is that fringe players get like 70-78 ratings, while some solid top 6 forwards or top 4 d-men are at like 78-82. Makes no sense. |

I don't even think I"m going to bother buying it this year. Too similar to NHL 13 for me. I'll probably wait till next year when I buy my PS4.
Btw, good to see the canucks finally got a decent blogger |

Honestly, NHL 12 and 13 were a lot alike for me, NHL 14 is different. The fluidity of controlling the puck and moving it up the ice is a huge difference. They changed the deke system, and the flow of it is top notch. They are now using actual collision physics engines this year, so the hits are more realistic, as well as more bone shattering. The physics engine has only been used in FIFA so far, so to have in for the NHL franchise is really neat and is a big draw for me.
And then you have the new fighting engine, which brings more of a team atmosphere to the fights, instead of just a 1v1 'staged' fight if you will. There is more spontaneous-ness to it.
I bought it last night at midnight at my local 24 hour WalMart, and I think its unreal. Is there a HUGE difference year to year, not usually. Comparing 2008 to 2014 and saying there's no difference is silly. There is huge differences, and the newest one is the best on to date. |

Why on earth is Holmgren giving Cleary a three year contract at age 34? I've always liked and respected him for how aggressive he is, never afraid to make a move, but this makes little sense to me??? |

He is the worst gm in the league. It really isn't even close. Cue Fester jokes...but Jay has at least been above average. The Bryz contract alone should have got him fired. |

I believe 100% that Ed Snider forced that deal through! |

Doesn't matter much, in 3 years the cap could be up to 75 million. If anyone thinks, especially after how he played in the playoffs, that he was going to take over a million dollar paycut is out of their mind. Cleary slides perfectly onto the left side of our 3rd line, provides grit with a little offensive pop. Better than Gagne at that spot, IMO. And its not an over-35 contract which is big. We have a lot of young forwards (G, Simmonds, Voracek, Schenn, Read, Couturier) that could learn a lot from Cleary.
For the record, its almost a guarantee Snider was the #1 reason why Bryz was signed to that contract and NO ONE could have predicted the disaster that followed, not even the most avid Bryz-hater.
To say he is the worst GM in the league, when guys like Clarkson and Bozak are getting 7 years deals for over 5 million per, is a joke at best. |

He did get a nice return on Richards. His Carter bungling is questionable. And two buyouts? I understand he didnt sign Briere but still an ugly offseason. There is a few vastly overpaid contracts he is responsible for. And the refusal for a full rebuild is baffling.
And did Snider also ask him to trade Bob? It was not a shock that he became a star in Cbus. |

I'm sure it is better but I really am only planning on buying one last game before my system upgrade and that's GTA5 |

I guess we can add EA Sports to the list of groups that hate the Canucks. Refs, NHL, CBC, Dreiger. |

NHL 14 is only coming out on the current generation console, so until a game worth purchasing on the PS4 comes out, ill just stick with my PS3. |

No its not a shock he was a star in Columbus. But you don't pay your back-up 3 million a year when you just signed Bryz. I blame a lot on Lavi too, he did a terrible job of handling Bob in the 2010 playoffs. Snider came in during the offseason and said never again. We played 3 goalies in the first round of the playoffs. The refusal for a full rebuild is baffling? How so? The trade of Richards and Carter WAS our rebuild. I think the return for Carter was better than the return for Richards. Voracek completely compensates Carters offensive output, I'd say he's better defensively, and we got Couturier and Nick Cousins (2nd overall scorer in OHL this past year).
Does he have his mistakes? Certainly. But I'd take going for it every year and making the move when you have the chance, than cheering for a team like Buffalo who never seems to make the big move |

Think it's easy being a GM for a team owner who "gave birth" to the team 45 years ago, with the guy what 81 years old breathing down your neck craving for one more cup B4 he's gone? |

I don't like the Vinny deal, he's been hurt each of the last 3 years, for 5 more years here? I think he goes back to Tampa in 2 or 3 for a swan song ending, his cap hit is what Tampa wanted.

Ville Leino says hi. Poor Buffalo.
when was the last time Philly had a respectable goalie...Hextall?
I dont think that was your rebuild...still at the ceiling after two buyouts Meszaros and Hartnell...bad contracts. However, Calgary will take Read off your hands!!! Timonen being your best dman speaks to the failure of Holmgren. No wonder Bryz strug....err never mind. He let in some terrible goals. Your dcorp was grossly neglected though and to get only Schenn for JVR....that puts Nonis a hair above Holmgren for the gm basement.
Rebuild or no at least philly is competitive every yr. I just feel they overreached on the finals run. No diff than Calgary after 04. Similar franchises. |

Fair enough. Just like Ralph Wilson and the Bills lol. At least Snider won a cpl times. I dont see Philly doing more than a 2nd rd exit until they admit their wrongs. Instead replace mistakes for mistakes. Oh well I hope for the best. I am an Eagles fan so I have a soft spot for the Flyers. |
