The Flyers would be insane to trade Coburn for a prospect, where the genesis of the move is to create Cap space. I have faith that they know better.
Think about what that would do the mix of the defense, along with the injury concerns with Grossmann and Meszaros. - MJL
Just sayin'... Edmonton has some a lot of nice defensemen prospects (is 5 a log jam?). I'm not sure how many are NHL ready, but I'd take a chance on a rookie (like Nurse) for Coburn. Sure haggle for what's the best deal... I'm not confident in Coburns play, he's never found consistency. Our defensive prospects have gotten better long term - but not short term. If we can fill that gap between Morin/Haag and the current NHL'ers. We should do it. Especially, if the guy has the potential for a line 1 guy. |

I hope Mez comes out both guns blazing and puts all you guys to shame.
I'm willing to see what he has when healthy. He has a ton to prove. We know it, he knows it, his coach, gm and the other players know it.
But I'm willing to give him the opportunity to fight for his spot this season. If we trade him I'd be fine with it at the trade deadline or (gods forbid ) he actually ends his current contract with us at the end of the season. - FlyersGrace
Unfortunately, he's a pretzel. He's only under contract for one more season, there is no way he's going to be a Flyers beyond this season, might as well unload him while he's still upright. Even a 6th round pick would suffice. |

Comes out, gets hit breaks a leg, gets concussion is un tradeable for the rest of the year - PhillaBully
You sound like a Flyers fan....
In all seriousness even I will have to agree we shouldn't re-up his contract if he gets hurt badly this season. I guess I just remember him playing really well for us when he was healthy. It makes me sad to think we are seriously considering trading him for nothing back except the cap room he frees up. |

I guess I disagree cuz if he is healthy he can be a strong defensemen and we all KNOW you can't have enough of those.
I won't touch comments on his flexibility. I'll let you spout off about his favorite positions. Although feel free to draw a pretzel picture.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 1m
Not exactly sure why, but it appears as if there is some complication between Daniel Cleary and PHI. Told he will not be joining Flyers. |

I'm indifferent. Cleary would have helped, but I wasn't crazy about the reported contract.
Simon Gagne, come on down.
Probably a situation where the Flyers didn't have grasp on their cap situation and had to pull the offer. |

Achilles ruptures are probably not classified as recurring. After surgery, only 4% chance of a re-rupture. He probably has a greater chance of rupturing the other one. But, I'm sure strengthening and stretching is a daily routine and should limit it from happening again. - leon neon

If I root for you to win the powerball do I get a cut?
And yeah I see your point. I'm just willing to give him a shot to show up or shut up. |

No way. Want no part of him. He looked cooked in Pittsburgh. Let Mcginn play on the 4th line. |

I agree a 100% on your view of Brayden Schenn. He hasn't really impressed me yet and he seems to hold on to the puck to long at times. He needs to have a big year... - tk71
I agree.
There will a lot of eyes on Brayden this winter, and justly so. I'd really like him to get comfortable, find his niche, and amp up his game to a more consistent level.
I wouldn't be disappointed if he develops a stronger, all around game instead of a big year, so to speak. After all, he's still a kid on the upside of his learning curve.

It would be a huge mistake in my opinion to trade Coburn for a prospect. |

Sure, here's your piece of red velvet cake covered in iron filings.
And if Mez does do well then we both reap the benefits. |

They have plenty of cap room, all they have to do is send a couple guys down a voila... cap compliant.
Ask anybody. There's no cap problem here. |

I'd really prefer to let McGinn (or whatever player we already have) take that spot than sign any veteran, at this point. |

Are the moves open to the Flyers that have been suggested to become Cap complaint, incorrect? Or not feasible? |

Yeah. What will prob end up happening is if they don't sign Gagne they will move Talbot up to the third line (which I have no problem with) and put Rosehill on the 4th line (which is a waste of time). |
