Not at all. Just find it amazing a player would accept 1 yr at 1.75, as opposed to 3 yrs at 2.75. - PLindbergh31
Omg. This is outrageous. Cleary is almost certifiable for not taking the flyers deal. And we wonder why Holmgren catches flack around the NHL? You just cant give out deals like this to older players with question marks to fill needs on a 3rd line |

Thanks. He doesn't need to play travel hockey. If we had in house options I'd go the cheaper route. Those dry up around Bantam then it's school or travel and in Middle School travel was the safer option. Unfortunately, he's playing school and travel now so we eat at the gas station and lick the wrappers between games.
- mayorofangrytown
I know, but now that several of M4's former teammates have moved on to full travel, he'll have to make friends all over again (though he does keep in touch with some of them via Xbox Live). I'm hoping one of his teammates from last season is on his team again this year. They made a nice tandem: M4, the quick clearer/poke-checker and M1 the big intimidator (but as aggressive as Kjell Samuelsson). Plus, M1's dad is a hoot to watch games with. A real character. |

6th grade kind of sucked. - hammarby31
They all sucked. I thank God every morning that I don't have to go to school today. I may hate this job compared to prior ones I've had, but there's a paycheck every week - unlike school. |

I really dont think 2.75 for a UFA Stanley Cup vet is over payment. He is also under the over 35 rule so if his knees did go, it wouldnt have counted against the cap. Like I said, I could care less either way, but I'm not upset about the deal offered. |

Wait till he gets home. Mrs. Cleary is waiting for him holding a 44 oz. Louisville Slugger. |

They have size and grit on line 1, 2, and 4. Why do we need it on 3rd line?
Line 1
Hartnell- Size and Grit
Voracek- Size
Line 2
Lecavalier- Size and ocasional grit
Simmonds- Size and Grit
Schenn- Some Grit
Line 3
If talbot playes here he as grit
Line 4
Hall- Grit
Rinaldo- Grit
Rosehill- Size Grit
I think we are covered. I think I wouldnt mind a smaller 3rd line that can out score other team's 3rd lines by like 3-1 ratios. Gagne and Read as 3rd liners.... I like it. Cant think of a better 3rd line. - youarewrong
If your going to give a nod to Jake for size. You should add Coots (line 3), who is roughly the same size. |

meh, I would trade not getting paid and going to school for having the responcibilities of an adult.
Especially after the week I have just had. Spending every night at my Grandpop's hospital bed watching him slip into delirium. Then sleeping at my moms house because she is on a cruise, and someone has to take care of my grandmother who has dymentia....
Yea, I'll take algebra class anyday over that. |

Agreed. As a kid I always thought. Man I can't wait to grow up and get out of school. Now that I'm grown up Ive never wished I were a kid |

It's tough when teams turn over like that. Last year we moved to a new team and Jason didn't know anyone, this year all but one of his teammates moved up to 18U. Luckily his best friend bit off more than he could chew trying out for Tier I and ended up joining his team so he knew two players. |

Well... Jake is just starting to use his size though, where Coots still hasn't shown a willingness too. |

Flyers offered 8.25 over 3 years. So Cleary took 6.5 million less to stay in Detroit.
WTF is right.
Would like to see other examples of this. Can't recall off the top of my head. Seems kind of unprecedented.
Using this premise, Gagne should agree for the Flyers to place a time clock in the building, where he punches in and out for 10 bucks an hour. - PLindbergh31
Or maybe, just maybe, for once we might believe Flyers that they have never offered him that. For all we know the information was reported by some Detroit journalist, who might be as credible as Randy Miller et al. |

Are you inferring that Bill and I are stupid? - mayorofangrytown
You're not going to bait me like that. I'm inferring the same thing I inferred in the discussion yesterday. The basis in which you are coming to the conclusion that the Flyers have a Cap problem is flawed. And I proved it. |

Understood. My two remaining grandparents (Dad's mom, Mom's Dad) are each almost 91. My dad's side is good about caring for their mom. Mom's side rarely visits their dad. My parents visit and do things with both. One of my greatest joys was my grandfather's reaction to our February announcement of our (now 2-month old son) child-to-be being born in June. He was ecstatic. That makes 10 great-grandchildren for him now, after having 45 grandchildren.
That said, better to deal with that now at an age when you can understand it than when you're younger and can't. My paternal grandfather died when I was 3. I grew up asking where he was and hating the answer. Mom's mom died in 2005. My first wife died in 2007 and I had to explain that to our son, my now (almost) 11 year-old.
It hurts, but I'll still take this timeframe over school. And I did well in school! |

I will repost what I put on Ek's latest info. on Cleary:
Flyer fans: be very glad the deal fell through for you. Cleary is not worth anything close to what he was asking.
Some Wings fans are still loyal to him and keep harping that Cleary put some points up in last year's playoff run. Yeah.. he did. But he has been crap the last three regular seasons. He is not a finisher. He's a 3rd / 4th liner at best. He has two bad knees.. (operations on both last year) and is almost 35 years old. Also, he is not nearly as effective as he was a few years ago... now days he tends to cough up the puck a lot more. I hope it's only a 1-year deal. The Wings need that roster spot for the talented young guys like Nyquist, Tatar, Anderssoon, etc.... This is yet another example of Holland letting his loyalty to older vets clouding his judgement. - Vladdie_Kon1
