Not that I'm aware of, but I've heard he's a good two way player. Chris Pryor, who was head of scouting before Hextall came in, loved him and said he could play in the NHL right away. Dave Brown wasn't sure, but liked his upside. - Jsaquella
Well ok
My only concern is our 3rd line may be our weak link as far as grit goes. |

That's why I wanted Cleary. He would have been a very popular player by Thanksgiving. |

I think McGinn would be a good fit for the 3rd line. |

Cleary would've been a nice addition, but I like the mix probably having one more young player take a spot. |

That's why you pair him with guys like Couturier and Read |

If they need to be a shutdown line, I don't think McGinn helps. If McGinn makes the team, I'd make him the 4th line winger and bump Max Talbot up |

with the rate the flyers get injured, i don't like the idea of mcginn and laughton making the team. |

True but then the 4th line has two-way concerns with Rinaldo and McGinn on the same line. Ideally for me I'd like to see Laughton at 3rd line LW, with Talbot - Hall - Rinaldo forming the 4th line. |

I'm open to Laughton making the team. If he does, I hope he gets a lot of ice time. |

If he does fill the 3rd line LW spot, he'd be getting about as much time as a rookie should get. |

Laviolette used Rinaldo against top lines for periods of a few games last Season. But the concern is noted. The 4th line can be more of an energy line. If Couturier is going to be used against other teams top lines, I want Talbot with him on the Wing.

I can agree with that, but Couturier has shown more than enough ability to handle top competition. |

So top 6 are hartnell, G, Vcheck, Cav, Simmons, Schenn. So the next 2 lines we chose from Read, Talbot, Hall, Rinaldo, McGinn, Talbot and Laughton.
Cleary does make that list stronger when seen on paper. It all depends on the mix you want and the roll you want the line to play. |

He can't do it alone. Defense is a team game. Talbot is arguably the best defensive Winger on the team. He should be on the line that is going to match up with top lines in my opinion.

the point is noted. but if anyone should get hurt, i think rosehill should be fine
honestly they may be a bit thin, but they could always use rinaldo, or maybe call up holmstrom or raffl. i don't know exactly what we can expect from the latter, but it seems as if the org is high on him |

That's a solid shut down line with a very specific primary role. Like others, I get caught up in trying to pair the best on the same lines. You really need to pair the best players with a specific role. Happens all the time:
Let's add a little offensive punch to this line, thereby sacrificing D when their primary role is to stop a top line. |

I agree. I think this team is a dynamic offensive team, with plenty of offensive talent. What I think is going to determine how good they are this year, is how they defend as a team, and how they check. Are they a team that is hard to play against, and challenges other teams in all 3 zones. That's what was badly missing last Season.
