I thought he'd help us for sure, but that was a lot of money for a guy his age. - Hextall271
i just feel like whenever we get a player that played in det, that player really works out and he would have been a great mentor/ on ice leader for coots and reader |

they need grit/size on the 3rd line. talbot and read on the wings is not what I'd be looking for...I'm back on the chimera bandwagon myself... - isaiah520
I think Talbot is better suited to the fourth line. |

I wonder if the reported numbers for Cleary will drive up the price for Gagne?

They have size and grit on line 1, 2, and 4. Why do we need it on 3rd line?
Line 1
Hartnell- Size and Grit
Voracek- Size
Line 2
Lecavalier- Size and ocasional grit
Simmonds- Size and Grit
Schenn- Some Grit
Line 3
If talbot playes here he as grit
Line 4
Hall- Grit
Rinaldo- Grit
Rosehill- Size Grit
I think we are covered. I think I wouldnt mind a smaller 3rd line that can out score other team's 3rd lines by like 3-1 ratios. Gagne and Read as 3rd liners.... I like it. Cant think of a better 3rd line. |

Not a huge deal. Would have been nice to add Cleary as he is better than the current in house options. Hopefully they can sign Gagne now.
I wouldn't be opposed to putting Talbot on the third line, and letting McGinn play a 4th line role, but I think they will start out having Rosehill on the 4th line. Hope I'm wrong. - PLindbergh31
Laughton is also an option. Rosehill will be fine on the 4th line. |

i can't beleive a player used another team as leverage to get a contract to his liking from the team he really never wanted to leave...
THAT NEVER HAPPENS - phi1671
Oh I know, that's what I've been saying... But still, should make for some fun hockey moments. |

Looks like a lot of the Detroit fans aren't all that encouraged that he's back. I expect he's not at a super discount considering what the Flyers offered for him. |

You were fine with Cleary on the 3rd line with Read on the other Wing. Talbot brings just as much grit, if not more, then Cleary does. And Talbot is 5 years younger. It's a blessing in disguise that Cleary decided to go to the Wings. |

I wonder if Newbury might be an option. He's a better player than Rosehill. |

I gotta say I'm 100% with you. I really wasn't a fan of the Cleary option. |

I think that Talbot is an ideal 3rd line Winger. |

I'm talking about what the Flyers reportedly offered him. And yes they are different kinds of players, who were pretty much slated to play the same position, third line winger.

Earlier this week, Detroit Free Press writer Helene St. James reported that Cleary and the Flyers had agreed to a three-year contract worth $2.75 million per season, but the deal would not be announced until the Flyers --- who are currently over the salary cap and maxed out at 50 contracts until slide-rule eligible players are re-assigned to their junior clubs -- carve room for Cleary at the end of the month. In the interim, Cleary would officially join the Flyers on a professional tryout (PTO) basis.
Ummmmm... anybody want to rail on for three pages and correct Bill about how he doesn't understand the salary cap or he wouldn't state that the Flyers are over it because they aren't.
