So Gaunce and Horvat are the only guys in the running for 3C now...? - Fosco
No, but Schroeder would have to be absolutely phenomenal in order for them to not start scouring the waiver wire or looking for an upgrade via trade. Even if he was it wouldn't surprise me to see them use him as a stop gap until January / February when they could fit someone under the cap via trade. |

Those numbers would definitely justify his salary. I think the 78 games part is the toughest to reach. |

I'd do the complete opposite and go land someone who can fill the role right away, and in the near future. I'm sick and tired of the Canucks management making reactionary decisions instead of dictating what they want from their assets. |

I wasn't specifically referring to Schroeder.
I think the best out of the 4 or 5 guys fighting for the spot at camp will win it, regardless of size or age.
If that player can't perform at an acceptable level, they'll look for a replacement.
Unless maybe somebody they really like hits waivers—but I doubt too many good players will, and they'll like be snapped up before the Canucks have a chance.
And I think the 2 or 3 guys who have pro hockey experience have a huge advantage over the rookies, because unless one of the rookies are head-and-shoulders above the competition, they should go back to JR to develop. |

I think their hope is that Gaunce or Horvat will show that they're ready. If either of them can seize the job then it's the right move.
Management would also likely wait until teams have to shrink their rosters to become cap compliant before acquiring someone. Should be a couple guys cut loose at the end of camps. |

Definitely. The best players will make the team and be given the opportunity to prove they belong, regardless of size. Junior eligible players will have to outplay their veteran counterparts to take their jobs.
I don't really see the answer on the waiver wire. If they have to go get someone I think it'll be via trade. Could be someone that was going to hit waivers, just acquired in trade to guarantee nobody else snatches them up. |

I'd bet that their belief in Horvat being able to play is what got them to pull the trigger. Looking back at draft day, he was the most NHL ready centre available at #9. |

Morrow is a massive douche. I've met him numerous times and used to work with his brother here in Calgary....he's also a douche.
So ya...he'd fit right in with Vancouver and the group of fans on here.... - Iggysbff
Hall is playing the middle while your 98 lb center rehabs. There's a good 1 st over all pick .He is like the David Booth of the Oilers. |

I think Kesler is going to be our soundbyte guy this year. We should think of renaming him Torts Jr |

I'm finally starting to figure out why he's untouchable. If you touch him you break him. |
