I think it's more of a situation where the Canucks will wait and see what transpires in pre-season before making the call of adding or subtracting anyone. There are a number of unknowns with how well the young guys will play at the NHL level and there's always the possibility of someone going down injured.
I'm not sure if Morrow would accept a camp invite on PTO but if I'm MG I'd certainly offer him one.
Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Burrows-Kesler-Hansen
Booth-Schroeder-Higgins
Sestito-Richardson-Santorelli
In my eyes it's pretty simple. If the above team is what we have rolling out of camp then Morrow absolutely has a spot on that top 9. If one of Jensen, Gaunce, Horvat, or Shinkaruk make the team it's an either or scenario. If 2 make the team full time and there are no pre-season injuries then there's no room for Morrow. - AlexF
From what I've seen from the young stars Tourney and thus far in Training camp. Im putting Horvat on the third line before Schroeder. I think with the recent addition of Horvat Schroeder is Expendable. |

I think Kesler is going to be our soundbyte guy this year. We should think of renaming him Torts Jr - VANTEL
I was sent out of town last Saturday and have missed everything sports related, so they booked me off at 13:00 today and I've been catching up.
Watched the press conference from whatever day it was, and when Gillis and Torts sat down to answer questions I heard Gallagher say " Welcome back Mike"
Gillis says " So it starts already does it" my impression was there is no love lost, but, I could be reading something that's not there.
Gillis, Kes, Beiksa and Torts...soundbyte machines, going to be a classic season to remember. |

Wish I could go, everyone on the team is saying all the right things. Lets see how things progress and how the team responds to adversity. Hope they catch on to the new coaching staff and systems.

Canucks save 500k on the cap with booth on the LTIR and get their look at Horvat or Gaunce |

I will summarize all sound bytes for the year
Kessler: $&@()::;/:-! Bastards
Bieksa: yeah Kesler is always in the shower admiring himself or in fron't of the mirror.
Lu:Can't believe Torts won't let me use Twitter, oh yeah my con'tract sucks
Gillis:We have three offers for Lu,but we are waiting for one of three players to become available.
Torts: Where' Brooksie?
Sedins : The 7-0 loss didn't really show how we played. I think we were close |

Day to day is code for he's not close to being ready or as you point out, we don't want him ready and would rather have other players in the line-up, Ballard was a prime example.

I really don't get this.
You're basing Schroeder's expendability on 3 games of rookie shinny where Horvat looked alright?
People need to wait and see what these prospects do against grown men before making these premature conclusions...

Horvat has a higher ceiling regardless. Better size, Good eyes, Good in his own zone.
Im not saying he's a shoe in over Shroeder. But why did they take a top ten pick at the draft, Spend it on a Centerman when we have Schroeder in the wings?
If it was his spot to win why did we draft a centerman?

Another hater. Big surprise. The guy put up some pretty solid numbers in Miami. Provided he can actually get HEALTHY. I think he is still the player we thought he was when he came here. And lets not forget. He plays with a centerman, Sir Kesler, who isnt exactly a puck distributing genius. More so a bit of a moron who takes wrist shot from forty feet out.
Booth can one hundred percent be better. Hes not playing with Weiss anymore who actually knew what passing the puck was.
I love Kesler, And dont get me wrong. Booths injuries are one thing, And the fact that he's paired up with a centerman who has a shoot first mentality doesnt help his case.
I can actually see schroeder or Horvat bringing this guys game back. They know how to distribute and can play on both sides of the ice. |

You draft a centre because they're the hardest position to acquire. You also don't draft players with the sole purpose of helping you immediately. You draft for the future.
In any given draft year only 3-4 draftees play more than 9 games the year they were drafted. Horvat could be one of them, but the odds don't favour him.
My comment was more about basing too much on 3 or 4 games of shinny against other prospects. And if you are basing it on those games, he wasn't even one of the Canucks top3 performers in the tournament.
Horvat could make this team, but wait and see how he does against pro competition before saying he makes a player who's proven more at a higher level expendable. |

Cause Cory had emotional problems and we had to get rid of him. |
