It is just perception and hyperbole until the little matter of PRODUCTION is met.
Once upon a time, Jiri Dopita was viewed as the Best Player in the World Not Playing in the NHL.
Perception. Hyperbole. NO PRODUCTION. - AllInForFlyers
No, it's not perception and hyperbole. It's scouting and talen evaluation. It's identifying his skill set, and what he brings to the ice. And it's looking at his play in his career to this point.
You seem to be confusing what has been said, with stating that Laughton is a sure thing in the NHL. Not the case. No one has said that. Nor has anyone said that he should automatically be handed a spot.
same as confusing Dopita being labeled the best player not playing in the NHL. With stating that it would automatically transfer to the NHL. Dopita's heart clearly wasn't into playing in North America.
If you want to state that Laughton is not a guarantee. I don't think anyone would disagree with that statement. |

The law of "Bad Hockey Nicknames" demands that we start referring to him as "Laughts".
I don't think "Laughty" works that well. |

I'll make that the post script after HIS bringing home the Conn Smyth and Cup.
HIS will be done, of course. |

No. People should be able to express their opinions. You can NOT argue the fact that he would like to just "see" what he looks like on the top line. In a different environment, a less confrontational answer could be: "I don't think that would work"... instead of making the person feel like an idiot and defend his thoughts.
I feel as though this board is policed for opinions that can only make sense for certain people, otherwise you dare not post in this board.
There is not much "light" talk. No off the wall ideas may be presented unless they are clearly stated as a joke. You must fact check before expressing a dislike for someone/player, otherwise you should NOT dislike that person, and you're an idiot. Before you express that you like someone, you must make sure they have appropriate reasons for said satisfaction of that player.
Once the ball is rolling, like in high school, others join in on the fun of feeling superior, as though their thoughts and opinions meet the criteria for correct thoughts and opinions on this board.
Its all a very interesting thing to observe. - mikel33
I don't know about the policing part of your post but you bring up a good point. Often times, ideas that are postulated are met with considerable resistance to the point of being rude. The haughtiness of some and cronies rushing to their side is irksome -- and a trend I've disdained here for at least 2 years. It's why I disappear for a while before coming back. |

Please post often and add as much opinion and light hearted farce as you want.
The difference of opinion is what makes this place worthwhile.
If everyone always agrees that would suck.

You mean the same scouting and talent evaluation and skillset identification that nets you Andreas Nodl and Michael Ratchuk within four picks of each other, or Kevin Marshall?
Go on. Please continue explaining to me how Scott Laughton's scouting, talent evaluation and skillset identification are bulletproof, while every other player who didn't make it "had flaws."

Because we're talking about a 24-year-old forward with an NHL-ready physique and an 18-year-old defenseman. - bradleyc4
I was talking about Pannacio's track record of predicting players making the team. Not comparing one player to another. And maybe I inncorrectly mistook who was being discussed. I thought is was Pannacio stating that Laughton was going to make the team. |

Maybe the plan all along was some sort of sci-fi brain switch with Pronger. Has the technology come along since last night? |
