If you accidentally attack the lady who sits to my left, I salute you.
I never agree with hitting a lady, but at a game a few years ago, if this one Pens fan had hit her, I'd understand. |

My co-worker was telling me about a time her and her friends stole a keg from a guys house at the Poconos. She thought it was so funny. All I could think about was if I stole a keg and got caught, I would get my ass kicked so bad. If a girl does it, it's just like "Oh, tehe, that was yours!?" |

Definitely a double standard.
At the Y-100 Feztival, No Doubt was playing. Some girl just got up in this dude's face and was screaming at him and pushing him (drunk as all get out). She kept on pushing him and he said 3 times, "Please stop pushing me." Finally, after she pushed him, he rocked her with a right hand and knocked her out cold. I just stood there and was thinking, "Well...yeah, sounds about right." |

I was at the game. Doop was in full force. I hate it more than anything.
The two best coming out/warmup songs hands down are
"For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Sound of Madness"
Morin looked fine for a first game. Easy to see he has a solid base at 18. He is still 2 years away he needs to get much stronger.
Nodl 2.0 didn't stick out much. - Just5
but he is going to be the best option for 3rd line winger, so all those in the know say
when the original #12 was/is still available
still doesn't make a ton of sense to me |

i'm with you on #3, not so much #1, and never #2. and for some, #3 actually requires more therapy. |

well which is it: cheeba or cheetah? i've never burned either one. cheetahs are endangered, so that seems like a bad idea. |

I think there is definitely truth to that, but doesn't the fact that the Flyers gave Akeson a pro contract even as an undrafted player go against that status quo? I'm sure there are plenty of players who went undrafted and will never get a chance to prove they are capable of competing in the NHL, but that's why the NHL is considered the top league in the world. The system is far from perfect, but I feel right now, players who may have gone undrafted but had success in college competition are getting more opportunity to compete in the NHL. - mcefalu
Are the Flyers as intent on digging for undrafted diamonds if they didn't lose all those picks + Sbisa in the Pronger deal? All things being equal, I think we can safely say that Homer would have rather had those 1st-rounders at his disposal than be compelled to rifle through the leftovers from 2+ drafts past.
As for Akeson, the only reason anybody's talking about him right now is because he luckily was able to capitalize on his shot and scored a goal (and played well) in his only game up. Remember, this is the same guy that got sent down to the ECHL after leading the Phantoms in scoring the previous year to work on his defense. What if Akeson comes up and doesn't stand out? Does he ever get called up again? If not, he would be far from the first lower-end prospect to be one and done.
Whereas, a guy like Couturier can languish offensively and none of us would dream of sending him down to the ECHL to work on his scoring touch. Guys like JvR, Sbisa, Zubrus and Williams get to bypass the farm entirely despite having gaping holes in their games at the time they arrived. And the organization will go out and chase a former 1st-rounder like RJ Umberger when they already had a similar talent in Patrick Sharp in hand.
I think everybody would admit that the system isn't perfect, so it's just odd to me that the OP pointing it out would illicit such a vitriolic response. |

Yeah...I've never done it, but sometimes I'm just like, "Well,w hat did you really expect?" Having a vajayjay is not an automatic Get Out of Jail Free card.
This particular lady in my section, at Game 3 vs. Pitt (the crazy game) got up while play was going on and walked over to the next section. There was a Penguins fan just sitting there, not doing a damn thing. She got about 2 inches from his face and was just screaming her brains out, swearing at him and calling him names. My buddy just goes, "Yo dude, if he hits her, he's got that beat, I'll vouch for him." |

I don't think the Pronger deal has anything to do with the Flyers going after undrafted Free Agents. They've done that as an Organization for a long time. easy to sit in hindsight and ask what the GM would rather have. The GM doesn't get that luxury. I also don't think that Sharpe and Umberger are connected. Two separate players. Every player at 18 or 19 is going to have gaping holes in their game. nature of the beast. But the question is is there a spot open on the team, and are they good enough to play in the NHL. If Couturier struggled to the point where the team felt that he needed to be sent down to get his game in order, they would do so. But to the ECHL? Akeson was sent there for a reason. To show him that scoring wasn't enough, and that he needs to work on his game away from the puck if he wants to improve his chances of making an NHL team. |
