Hopefully. Could be wishful thinking. Flyers haven't developed a homegrown d-man in ages, to expect all three of these players to pan out might be unrealistic.
I think Gostisbehere is too small. Perhaps he could be a Freddy Meyer type. - PLindbergh31
I don't think there was as much hope surrounding Freddy as Ghost. Maybe there was and I just don't remember.
Ghost is already an excellent skater with a great shot from the point. |

Putting on the Orange jersey instantly reduces one's durability 20%

You might be right on Ghost taking longer/being less of a sure thing, but I love a guy with a big shot.

With a healthy Pronger, they wouldn't have traded for Grossmann. This is pointless to argue. The cap needs to be viewed as a whole. You can't divide it up in terms of spending certain amounts on each position. They have a young forward group, so they don't cost as much. Hopefully, when the forwards start costing more, the young defenseman come up and contribute. At that point, the team will be spending much more on forwards. - PhillySportsGuy
Fair enough. Giroux's cap hit goes up almost 5 million next year. There goes the money saved by losing Meszaros.
What if neither goaltender pans out this year? Where will all the money come from to replace Timonen? |

If both goaltenders implode, which I doubt, I don't think Homer will be around to make the next decision. |

Well, the cap is all but certain to go up, so there's some grease for the wheels there. And we can start with using the cap space occupied by Timonen for Timonen's replacement. |

Not true. Flyers don't have any goalies under contract next year. |

Well the cap is going up. But I do wish Giroux had done the team a favor and accepted $8m per year or even $7.75m. Timonen and Mesazros will probably have to be replaced by players making half as much. |

I'm a lot less worried about paying for it than I am about finding it. |

Which scenario is more likely?
A.) The goaltending duo posting a .915+ save %
B.) Mason reverting back to Columbus form, and Emery going down with an injury |

How is it not true? A bit of cap space also clears up with those goalies' contracts expiring. Something will have to give somewhere, but I agree with MOAT that finding said replacements is the real issue. |

We shall see. If the goaltenders don't pan out, the Flyers are going to be in bad shape. |

I think the better question is "What if one of the goalies plays to Vezina-caliber?" We have some $$ coming off the books, but we also have some raises coming up, and our goalie could look for Bob-type money/term. |

Duct tape is somewhat sturdy. Dental floss is more like it. |
