Can't handle the truth?

The Leafs are not very good. They overpaid for a redundant goalie, got rid of a few of their best possession players, signed a terrible contract with Clarksson and Bozak that will hurt the Leafs badly for years to come. Still have Liles, Franson is going to Sweden and Lupul is already showing his injury history is not a thing of the past.

The Sens have a junk roster. Honestly look at it. One decent first line centre. A good first line winger. No one else that belongs on the first line of an NHL team. One aging second line winger they're trying to pass off as a first line winger. One second line centre who really belongs on the third line. And that's about it. That's a terrible lineup for a top 6. And the rest of the forwards don't even belong in the NHL. A good offensive one-dimensional Dman who can't defend to save his life, one defensive guy who's decent, nothing special, and again, a whole lot of crap that doesn't belong on an NHL roster.

You think it's the Leafs that aren't any good? TAke a look at your own team. It's a steaming pile of dog crap.

I said two years ago that Pageau was the steal of the draft.

As expected though, the comments section degenerates into Leafs fans getting defensive because their team is likely going to regress a little bit, and not wanting to face reality. And of course, the target for their anger becomes the Senators, because everyone knows that the Senators aren't allowed to be better than the Leafs.

Here's the roster facts:

Ottawa has the best goaltending tandem in the Eastern Conference. They are the only team in the east that could play either guy with confidence. They both have the stats to back this up.

Toronto's best defender would be #3 on the Senators. Karlsson-Methot is infinitely better than anything Toronto can roll out.

If Ottawa goes into the season with Spezza-Turris-Zibanejad-Pageau down the middle, well. Bozak would be in competition with Zibanejad for the 3rd line spot, and he'd probably lose out. So Toronto's #1 guy would be Ottawa's #4.

Wingers....I'd give Toronto an edge on their top two lines, and Ottawa an edge on the bottom two lines BUT if Michalek and Ryan work out with Spezza, then that's likely to be one of the most productive lines in the east.

Coaching....no contest. MacLean is superior to every coach in the league at the moment and he's got the hardware to back it up.

Toronto can roll out their mouthbreathing knuckledraggers all season and get in a bunch of fights, blah, blah, blah, but teams won't be intimidated by that once they realize that McLaren and Orr can't actually play hockey, so they simply need to skate away.

Do I think Ottawa will win the conference? I think it's down to them, Pittsburgh, and Boston.

Do I think Toronto will miss the playoffs? No, they'll probably finish between 5 and 7.

But call this what it is. Organizationally, Ottawa is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Toronto.

Leafs fans have false confidence from last year. In the Boston series a lot of Leaf fans don't remember that Boston was tired coming into the series after playing the extra makeup games with Ottawa and Tampa. Also, their D was injured for a lot of the series and I think game 6 they played with 5 D because Seidenberg got injured on the 1st shift. But, don't let those facts get in the way of planning the parade.

The Leafs will miss the playoffs that's for sure. I don't even think they will be in 10, I am thinking at best they make 11th, I can see them around 13th at the end of the season.

Hopefully Kessel get's frustrated and signs somewhere else next summer.
