Not at all. If Schneider was all world, don't you think he's still be playing for the Canucks? He's a 10 -20 goalie in this league. He's not a top 10 like Marty was, for 20 years. He's also not got the same cast of players that Vancouver had in front of him. It's going to be a real change for him, coming east to play in a division and conference that is very close. - PrinceLH
It's because they couldn't trade Luongo. Schneider only makes the Devils better and gives them more depth, especially when their other goalie is 40 years old and liable to get an injury at some point...or just need rest. |

I think the difference between Toronto and Ottawa will be pretty marginal... both are young and talented teams. both are fun teams to watch. |

It was a preseason game, don't get ahead of yourself. The leafs seemed to make that mistake recently and it went badly for them. - david22
Say what? When did the team make the mistake of a fan getting too ahead of himself, and it went badly for the team because of a fan?..I dont get this post... |

But adding Schnieder for that pick doesn't equal an argument towards them not making the playoffs THIS year.
I also feel they'll miss for the record though. - david22
Lack of quality depth. Horvat may be good enough to play on the Devils and will improve over time. Schneider is a middling goaltender that had to compete with Luongo, in Vancouver. I'm still not convinced that Luongo isn't the better goalie, once you take the Contracts out of the equation.

I think there's a significant difference. Ottawa has more talent all over the ice and far better coaching. |

I know, you told us. I said it before, we get it. Pageau is as good, if not better, than Claude Giroux. You mentioned this.
Nice goal by Kadri, and nice drawing of blood on Pageau who he manhandled. I might be out to lunch, but you're paying. - Gunslinger
Love Giroux, love Pageau.
Love to see all the local kids do good. They both grew up in the area and played junior for the Piques. Love Giroux but I think JPG may have more magic in his stick and the same fire in his belly. |

I don't agree. Aside from Karlsson, the best player on either team, Torontos D and F groups match up quite well. While Anderson has been all world, Bernier and Reimer are no slouches...especially behind Lehner. |

He's no longer in Vancouver because they could actually get positive value for him, and no he doesn't have the supporting cast he had on the Canucks. He does however have a supporting cast that allowed the least shot per game in the league last year |

Oh god, please stop there. Our best possession players were Grabovski, MacArthur and Frattin? Are you brain dead? No.. Sorry that's not fair. You've been mislead by "statisticians".
Clarksons contract is terrible, most leaf fans agree. That doesn't mean he was a bad acquisition. On the contrary, it was a very good pick up based on the teams direction.
I still believe Franson will resign. I don't put too much weight into rumors until they are proven. Having Bernier is hardly redundant. It helps, more than anything, to have a bit of strong competition between to young goal tenders. - A_Tree
Don't think it's fair to dismiss those stats just because you don't like them or the Leafs particular numbers aren't impressive. Truth is most of the time those stats are very telling and everyone would like to have their teams have good numbers there. |

much more talent? I mean other than Karlsson, Ottawa has no one that makes me say, "wow, they are a great team because of their stars". Bobby Ryan will be solid, as will Spezza if he stays healthy.
Leafs have talent to.
not saying they are the same team, but just not sure what all of this arguing is about, both will be fine for their own reasons.
I do agree, Ottawa is much better coached. would love Paul MacLean to come to the Penguins. |

Yeah, and the Leafs gave Pageau a nice little love tap, the other night. Sure, he shone against the Habs, but who wouldn't have, in last year's playoffs? Wait until he has to look down the barrel of a Lucic, in Boston, or the Leafs two enforcers. He's about to find out that it's going to get a lot harder to make the nifty little plays, like he did against the Habs. - PrinceLH
I'm sure Pageau will be very intimated by a couple of plugs who play less than 10 minutes. He'll skate circles around them for fun. |

I think Ottawas goaltending is the difference maker. While both teams have good goaltending. Tornoto will have the advantage at offense. However, Ottawa has the advantage of having a number one center. It will be interesting to see how Kadri progresses though. |

people need to chill the F**K out with the sens doing so well. Ye they made it to round 2 last year without their big boys but they lost players in the process. Alfie, Silfverberg, and Gonchar. Also Bishop/Lehner played great. The team has Ryan, MacArthur, Weircioch, Cowen, Corvo to come in and the team is healthy but chilll. I hate looking back on all the years heading into the year with too much hype
Concerns for Sens:
Top line stay healthyand click.-- 3 stars Karlsson, Spezza, Michalek
Turris gets wingers / secondary scoring!- Sens have tons of grit but can someone outside Turris be counted on for 20+ goals.
Toughness. Against teams like TOR and BOS I question the team's overall toughness. Although even without Kassian, having Smith, Neil, Greening, and Cowen in the line up isn't a shortage. I'd still like to see one guy be able to drop the gloves. Methot is a good candidate but he is too valuable

Think about it without the vale of numbers. Those three logged some of the least ice time of our talented players and averaged maybe 14:00 min a game. Closer to the end of the season, Carlyle all but sat grabo and mcart... Frattin was good, but he was dealt.
Whatever's clever. |

Aside from Karlsson? I don't get it? Of the Sens didn't have Karlsson ok they'd be that much closer but the Sens do have Karlsson so it's a landslide. Forwards, Leafs don't match up down the middle. Not even close. They have the better top 6 wingers but far worse on the bottom 6. Goaltending isn't even a discussion. |

Pageau > Giroux - A_Tree
I said two years ago that Pageau was the steal of the draft.
Took lots of heat from guys on these threads.
Enjoying watching the kid having his coming out party.
This kid is a special player. Just love seeing him fight his way into the dance.
