The Oil still don't have anyone to protect the young stars. Brown was not the answer we needed to the cheap shot Weise gave to Hall. Teams have no fear of reprisals from the Oil, so expect cheap shots to continue.
My worry is there will be a cheap shot resulting in injuries. Remember Hall got hurt when he had to defend himself after being targeted by a fringe player? At least Brown stepped in here but he is not the "deterrent" the Oil need. - haymac
Eakins doesn't really believe in thugs who can only throw.
he wants guys that can make some sort of contribution in game as well.
that was brutal by weise, but I assume he's gonna do that whether we have Macintyre on the bench for 58 mins a night or not. |

Ryan Hamilton - Big forward showed he can handle it at the NHL level, and Dallas knows him well from the Marlies. Would be thrilled to see him crack the 4th. He is competing against Linus for a spot, is he not? This could be the end for Omark.
Speaking of Omark, I wish he would have played last night. He needs all the shots he can get to crack the lineup once and for all. I'm cheering for him one last time, after this he's done. No more chances. I hope Dallas hasn't soured on him yet.
Nurse - Give him 9 games with the disclaimer that his chances of staying this time are slim, unless he reaches beast mode. He's not ready yet, but he needs this taste of things to come. He's going to be 1-2 pairing in 2-3 years.
Ty Rimmer - After the Canucks 2nd goal, he looked DISGUSTED with himself. At that point, I was cheering for him to bounce back. He's got the hunger. Mark my words, in 2-4 years, he will be competing for starter.
Also... where the hell did this Hunt kid come from? Sign him up.

Jones looked horrible
Brown is Pathetic
Belov looks good, will improve
Nurse will be phenomenal after another year in the CHL
Hall will be named Captain next week, pure leader - kilrtunz
Agree except with Brown. He had a great game. But for some reason oil fans don't think they need that element to the game? |

??
I though he was fairly soft defensively and small. and not nearly dominant enough at the other facets to be considered close to 'great'
maybe we look for something that isn't there depending on what we're hoping.
I though belov looked like he belonged and is prob gonna be our 6 guy. but to be fair, that's what I wanted to see. |

I noticed that as well... Haven't seen much of his work, but it seems like he has talent, and he gives a sh1t. I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Barons.

No worries. I purchased myself a souped up comp complete with new desk and chair so such tasks are rather pleasant now. I'll never buy a laptop again. |

Belov made at least 3 offensive plays from our defensive zone, he rushed once that resulted in a scoring chance and made 2 fantastic long out passes that resulted in offensive chances. He played a the body when he was supposed to. If a defense man isnt doing anything to WOW you but hasnt done anything to make you hate him, hes probably doing his job. I dont think he was brought here to be a Doughty type player but more of a steady big presence on the line and thats exactly what he is. |

amazing how far Fedun has come. I wouldn't say he was great but he played solid.
Belov reminded me of a less mean but more athletic Souray. He could be on the 3rd pair with some PP time. |

and sestito with the low blow spear... Maybe its time to get some size.
IMO the best teams have a combination of size/grit and speed/skill. Since we don't have a big top 9 maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a beast or two. I'm not talking about MacIntyre but a big guy that can hit and throw punches. Mashinter would be a guy I look at |

So our healthy centres are Hall (not really a centre), Gordon (3rd liner), Lander (should start in OKC), Arcobello (probably not NHL calibre) and Acton (might crack the 4th line). My guess is Arco will get a shot in the top 9 or they'll move Eberle to the middle. |

@EdmontonOilers #Oilers assign Klefbom, Marincin, Hunt, Martindale, Miller, Bachman and Rimmer to the @OKCBarons and Khaira to Everett (WHL). |

I have to admit Canucks looked like they were trying to inflict pain . Maybe Torts's influence. |

Glad to see rimmer will get a pro job this year, he looked unreal last night. Klefbom looked good this pre season but not great so a year in OKC with maybe a call up here and there will be great for him and us. Marincin could have made it too but its a good case of too many good players to choose from, id take a big guy who can hit over another mid to small guy who can pass well, he can be a call up should Schultz or Petry get sick/injured. Khaira would probably last in a 4th line role in OKC but as mentioned before it would be better for him to go play top 3 minutes in Everret and develop a bit of a scoring touch |
