Yuo. I don't mind Rinaldo if he plays with some semblance of control. He's a good agitator and can draw penalties. He also has a little skill and brings energy. Rosehill is a waste of everyone's time. - PLindbergh31
The minute you find out that one of the skills that lands a player on the Flyers is his fighting ability, you instantly label him a waste. Rosehill not only can fight and fill the enforrcer role. But he also skates well, can provide energy and get in on the forecheck, and brings a physical checking game to the ice. Nothing wrong with him as a 12/13 Forward. |

At least he's better than Shelley. Watching Shelley skate with the puck was pretty much just torture. I mean, I felt bad for the guy, but he was just done. Rosehill at least has a semblance of speed and can still forecheck. - jmatchett383
Felt bad for a guy making a million bucks to be a glorified mascot? I got some real sob stories for you.... |

Jay Rosehill is exactly the type of player that should be eliminated from the game.
Even though I dislike what Rinaldo brings (for the most part), he at least can do something other than punch faces. - bradleyc4
Fighting is not the only thing that Rosehill can do on the ice. |

A team would be foolish to take on Liles with 3 years still left on his deal. He's just not a very good player any more in my opinion. In terms of an asset to acquire Meszaros, it's not likely to be that big of an asset if the Flyers want to move Meszaros. Not to mention that Meszaros is a significantly better player then either Liles or Schultz. And he only has this year left on his deal. - MJL
A healthy Meszaros is a better player than Liles or Schultz, sure. The last time he was healthy was two years ago.
Liles isn't a bad player. He's weak defensively, but he's still capable of playing in a playoff team's top six, as he did in Toronto last season. He'd likely stay in Toronto, but he's been passed by players like Franson and Gardiner. |

Didn't realize JML (are you guys related btw?!) had 3 years left. No brainer Mez trumps all three of them on talent alone, but his 1 year left on his contract should be the saving grace. Furthermore, with the lack of noise I think we're hearing, I'm confident no moves will be made, trade wise. Schenn our Coots to the AHL for 24 hours seems more and more likely |

He's pretty much useless. The only solace in having him is that he's cheap. If the team feels the need to carry a guy like him, better that he makes $675K than $1.1mm |

There are plenty of players toiling around in the minor leagues that can provide a better 4th line shift than Jay Rosehill.
It all comes down to the antiquated idea of having a goon on your roster.
If they want to pay him to sit in the pressbox as the 13th forward, fine. But the minute he's added to the line-up, the Flyers are worse off. |

Liles is on his way to being done, in my opinion. Meszaros has looked healthy so far. Liles is coming off an concussion and an ankle injury. |

As compared to other 4th line players? Let me guess the Advanced Stats have pointed out to you that Rosehill can't play? Rosehill brings a physical presence and skating ability to the 4th line. |

No, I felt bad for him as far as you knew he was a good guy and trying his best but he just couldn't. Now, I don't feel bad for his bank account, but he's the type of guy that you really want to succeed, but he just couldn't. |

Meszaros has looked like poop so far. He's been terrible in the preseason, and if that's indicative of how he will play when the season starts, then he's not any better than Liles.
Liles played 32 games for Toronto last year, and averaged 18:46 TOI, while scoring 2 goals and 9 assists. That was sixth on the Leafs, a playoff team, in ice time. He would have been tied for second on the Flyers in defensive scoring.
So, yes, while he's coming off injuries, he's played better than Meszaros has, especially this pre-season. |

The Flyers aren't worse off adding him to the lineup at all. He can play a 4th line shift.
Look, I view Rosehill as the 13th forward, and would rather see somebody like Tye McGinn up getting some NHL experience in that role. But they sent him and Raffl down for a reason. It's not a big deal if Rosehill plays a little bit, until one of those guys is ready to come up. But people act like the Flyers are going to be disadvantaged if Rosehill is playing 6 minutes a game on the 4th line. |

Actually, watching Jay Rosehill has pointed out to me that he's not a NHL player. As far as goons/enforcers go, he's an above average skater. But if he couldn't fight, he'd be in the AHL or ECHL. |

The extra years on Liles deal are the biggest issue, but to say he's awful isn't exactly correct. To say Meszaros is better than him, right now, is giving Meszaros a pass for his injuries and his play since being hurt. |

That's pretty much it. He's a slightly better, tougher, younger, and cheaper Jody Shelley. |

Meszaros hasn't played a lot of Hockey lately and it's going to take some time to get his game together. That needs to be take into consideration. Meszaros was out injured for the majority of the year, so you can't compare his Season to Liles. The Flyers had a poor offensive Season last year. A team would be out of thier minds to take on Liles and his deal at this point. Meszaros is in the last year, and is far less of a risk.
LIles was waived for a reason. |

I'm not saying either is a really solid choice. Just that, with Liles, you're with him for 2 more seasons even if he stinks. |

I agree that you don't need an offensive game to skate on the 4th line.
But there are plenty of guys who aren't as terrible at hockey as Jay Rosehill and can also bring an energetic, hard forechecking shift to the Flyers. That's not why he's there. The Flyers, like many teams who haven't won championships of late, feel the need to waste resources on a heavyweight. |

The player I've watched is a capable NHL depth player. And the Flyers feel the same. I understand that you're against having an enforcer. I get that and it's a reasonable argument. But if Rosehill couldn't play in the NHL, the Flyers wouldn't have him there. |

Bottom line is that Rosehill is fine as a depth forward. The need for having a heavyweight has zero to do with why the Flyers haven't won Championships of late. |

Yes, he was waived for a reason. Jake Gardiner, Morgan Reilley and Cody Franson, combined with the artificially lowered salary cap makes him expendable to the Maple Leafs.
I see all kinds of teams lining up to take Meszaros |
