JM Liles placed on waivers today by Toronto, any interest if we can trade Mez ? Id rather have him then Gill and put Gus as our 7th, although JML cap is probably dumb anyway |

Would have rather had his contract over Streit's any day of the week... he's probably a better player, too. |

LOL all that worry for nothing! The 2nd coming of Bobby Clarke is apparently still available to us. - BiggE
Well, outside of you, nobody called him the second coming of Clarke. Just stated it was dumb to risk losing him over a talentless goon like Jay Rosehill.
Fortunately they keep him, probably because a lot of teams are in a roster crunch right now & didn't have room to claim him. |

Not worked up at all. The Oilers just signed Steve MacIntyre for less than Rosehill...I also see 4 or 5 goons on waivers today and very few guys who win 59% of faceoffs |

My point was that a lot of people seemed really upset at possibly losing a 4th line journeyman and all their fear was for nothing. |

My concern was the intelligence behind deciding to waive a guy that can play, rather than waiving a goon like Rosehill, especially considering Rosehill makes more against the cap.
The Flyers have needed a guy who can be counted on to win draws on the PK for years...and now that they have one they waive him to hang onto a goon...to me, that's a questionable decision |

So run out and sign a guy who does the same thing that the guy you just waived did? Not to mention Hall is a better penalty killer & more physical than Steckel, and quite possibly cheaper than Steckel....yep, brilliant |

I think the flyers saw more options if hall got claimed....they had a plan b,c, d and so on.....he didn't and maybe the flyers see the landscape of players and have a good feeling if a players going to be claimed. |

A goon has a role on the team as much as a 4th line center....if they lost rosehill maybe they didn't like their other options.....Rosehill protects the flyer superstars and would not be lost if suspended....and snider will always have a goon/enforcer b/c of the beginnings of the flyers in the late 60's....the flyers got the sh!t kicked out of them....and snider would never let that happen again....yes almost 50years later and we still hold true to our identity!!!! Who win 59% of their face offs and are good PK guys as well? Actually none. Steckel is good on draws, not as good on the Pk as Hall. Powe is a good PKer, but doesn't win as many face offs. Powe also costs almost twice as much as Hall |

After watching him take faceoffs during the preseason, I think Couturier can be that guy. He looked much improved on draws and just stronger and quicker overall. |

No. He has not done enough, IMO, to earn the spot. I feel Adam Hall and Michael Raffl outplayed him, at least in the games I watched.
I also don't buy the "he's done all he can in juniors" stuff. He wasn't even the best player at his position on his junior team. He can do a lot more at the OHL level. - Jsaquella
Re: Laughton, agree and agree.
Though he played well in juniors, there is still much to be benefited from by spending another year there as opposed to limited minutes here. |

Rosehill doesn't protect anyone. All Rosehill can do is fight a guy after they take a run at Giroux or Voracek.
You know who will be protecting Giroux? Hartnell or Simmonds, a guy with enough talent to take a shift with Giroux on the ice.
In the playoffs, 4th line centers dress, goons sit in the press box |

I'm glad Adam Hall is still available -- is he a journeyman and replaceable? OK, sure. I'll concede that point to anyone.
But for me, and I'm sorry if this irritates some people but I'm just trying to be objective: The Flyers are not the fastest team afoot. It behooves the team, as it is currently constructed, to win as many draws as possible, to be as defensively sound as possible.
Not chasing the puck is something that is underrated when your team has many other strong points. I think it's fair to say that this particular edition of the Flyers has enough question marks that having a guy around who wins 57-59 percent of his draws AND is defensively responsible is not as big a luxury as it appears. |

He might be able to, it's obvious he worked at it, which is encouraging.
Even so, I'd rather have Hall as 13th forward than Rosehill |

hall takes hard mins away from our top guys when it's to our advantage to do so. he can also take goon mins in chippy gms and draw penalties. these are usually not huge issues for a team, but they've been left largely unaddressed for so long they've become an irritant to the fan base...for 600k. |
