The key was being under at 5 PM tonight. As soon as they managed that, they could LTIR Pronger and get the full amount of his cap hit as LTIR exemption.

Doesn't look like a bad roster to me.
I think they make the playoffs and make some noise if tbey play like they did the last month of the season. If not new coach time.

actually DET, 1 yr after losing lidstrom, is already on track w/ their prospects on D. kronwall was already in place and guys like dekeyser were key signees. their D is better than ours now and will be at least until morin, hagg, et al are ready to take bigger roles.

NJ seems like they're banking big time on larsson, who may need another season to hit his stride. if he does, he'll be better than any young guy we have for a couple of yrs.

I wasn't talking about prospects. I was talking about replacing a franchise player like Lidstrom, same as the Flyers were faced with replacing a franchise player in Pronger. Actually none of the prospects in Detroit are on track to become the next Lidstrom.
