Hybrid icing looks nice, I know there was a complaint about wingers getting hurt but not likely. Guys aren't sticking their sticks in the skates trying to stop the icing now.

I think it's been determined that a few of us REALLY disagree and that none of us are changing our minds so let's look at the positives.

1.) we outshot a team by a fair margin

2.) we maintained a fairly strong defensive presence throughout the game

3.) there was some serious push-back from the Oilers when things got gritty

4.) Joensuu had a great game

5.) Arcobello proved to be at least a serviceable option in filling in for Gagner if he can keep it up

6.) Acton played well in limited minutes

Can we agree on this?

- MaximumBone

And Belov will be playing top 4 minutes in a month.

I like him a lot.

It's not a single game. Everyone was on eggshells, wondering how Dubnyk would play. If you say that you were not praying to you're television that "please don't let dubnyk let in another bad goal" then youre not being honest. He had a reputation for a reason and this so called "one bad game" argument is bogus...we all anticipated it, and then it happened
- JLO961

This is true and it sucked. It's been happening for 5-6-7 years and it's not always the goalie but it has been this team.

Yeah, it's a brutal feeling.

Never said Dubnyk was a bad goalie. I just don't see how he "clearly" is a top 15-20 goalie in the league when he has never played 50+ games in a season or had a winning record.
- sbroads24

Schneider hasn't played 50+ games in a season yet. does that make him a top 15-20 goalie then?

You still haven't confirmed if Miller had a winning record last year. I suspect that Dubnyk will improve upon his performance last year. Also, its extremely difficult for the goalie to have a winning record when the hockey club doesn't have a winning record.

Not having top 2C could put the Oil in a real deep hole. Hall is going to have his struggles like he did last night, and while Arcobello did well on the dot, is clearly only a temporary solution.

People need to stop mentioning save percentage and playing behind a terrible D. So much of the goaltender position is mental and most NHL goaltenders are more than happy to face MORE shots than LESS shots. You often hear a goalie say that it is the toughest thing to do to stay mentally focussed in a game where he is not getting a lot of shots. Even the worst backup in the show was an amazing goaltender at some point in his career and these guys CRAVE a ton of shots...I would even argue that most of them thrive on a constant barrage of shots. What sets the good ones apart is how they can stay mentally focused when there are very few shots on goal.

I cannot think of a goaltender in the NHL over the past 5 years (or more) that is worse at keeping mentally focused. Dubnyk has to get his act together in a hurry.

Dubnyk didn't just have a bad game, he was THE STORY of the game. He was responsible for the loss.

I wouldn't be surprised if Labarbara starts Saturday...an Eakins message.

Dubnyk needed to be better, but so does the rest of the team. There was too many bad giveaways. We just about got caught a few more times with some careless passing and passes that weren't hard enough.

On the bright side this team showed a lot more toughness. It's amazing what element Perron and JJ bring to our skilled lines. JJ looks like a real gem.

Totes brah. They could barely complete a pass the first 15 minutes.

starting goalies need to make every save they should and a lot of saves they have no business making. just because dubnyk robs someone one save doesn't mean he gets a pass when he lets in a weak goal. being a #1 is about consistency more than anything and that shows inconsistency.
