Good lord.
I felt the same way on the first day of my kids teeball career. The other parents were so outraged that i started hitting him and screaming in his face, but he just didn't get that his whole career was now off to a bad start. You have to start strong. Once that restraining order is lifted i'll get right back to the diamond. - WayneZ

Thanks for your support. This team needs to start this season off strong after their awful preseason. Didn't say the season was over if they don't win, but it will help this team's confidence a lot. |

The most recent Cup winners to regularly dress a goon were the 2009 Pens and the 2007 Ducks. The Pens dressed Eric Goddard for 71 games in the regular season. The Ducks had George Parros who was acquired mid-year and played 32 games in the regular season.
In the playoffs, Goddard didn;t dress and Parros played 5 games - Jsaquella
The Pens are fortunate enough to have a regular defenseman who is as tough as any player in the League.

Typically i always cheer against Philly, but I find the smugness of the Leaf nation, after their single fluke appearance in the post season, irritating, and I hope you guys curb stomp them tonight. |

Dressing a guy who can't play, to counter a team that has done the same is illogical, ass backwards strategy. Not hard to comprehend that.
I just thought of something, if the Leafs dressed Glen Healy tonight, the Flyers would be (frank)ed, I don't think Coates would be able to stay upright. |

The Rupps, Ashams players of that ilk are the perfect 4th line players. They will stand up to anyone if need be, and can play an NHL worthy shift. - PLindbergh31
I look at it this way-if fighting was banned, could the guy justifiably be a NHL player based on his hockey playing ability?
If not, then I don't see why a NHL team should employ them. 10-20 years ago, sure. They served a legitimate purpose. Now, guys like Orr, Rosehill and Scott are sideshows. Nothing more. |

But he can play and is out taking regular shifts, his sole purpose is not to file and mainly open the bench door for line changes. |

The one thing they showed me a bit yesterday, is that when things get chippy they can lose their cool.
In a special teams battle, the Flyers I think would excel. If I am Laviolette I tell them to get under the skin, and try and start some BS. Play with emotion. |

Yep. Engelland is exactly the kind of guy I'd like on my third pair or 4th line. Can play the game, see some PK time and fight. |

the Flyers seem to play better when the game is a little chippy and/or crazy.
it's those damn disciplined games vs the Devils/Rangers/et al that we suck at.

Rosehill is not in the lineup for the sole purpose of opening the door for line changes.

I think in today's NHL enforcers do serve a purpose, but they need to be able to do other things as well. I think that's why Rinaldo is so eager to work his way onto the PK. |

Enforcers do. A guy like Rinaldo or Shawn Thornton do more than fight. I'm talking about the guys who can't do more than fight.
Rupp was dead on balls accurate when he told Shelley, "I'm not fighting you, You're irrelevant" |
