I think he will kill the dollar hot dogs, and wash it down with a nice cold soda. |

Leafs gooned it up last night so i guess Lavy's gotta goon back
still (frank)ing ridiculous - FLYERSROCK!
I don't mind it really, but if Laughton only gets 9 games, why sit him for 1 of those 9 games, unless they already intend to keep him? |

It helps to have numbers, too.
I couldn't recall a single instance in those two games vs NJ where there were more Flyers around the puck than Devils, anywhere on the ice, but especially in board battles. Always 1-on-2 or 2-on-3 with the other guys hanging back.
If your bread and butter is aggressiveness, guys need to jump in there and at least even the odds or you might as well send all five guys back and just concede possession. - Tomahawk
They just seem out of sync on board battles. When help arrives they go to the wrong side or the puck just slides past them.
NJ always seems so structured on board battles. They win them and move it out quickly and efficiently. |

Yes and no -- it's not that Schenn can't. The thing about the Leafs wingers is that they'll turn anyone around, not just our guys. JVR, Kessel and Lupul -- man, those guys are good. Kessel's a two-time all-start, and Lupul was an all-star the last full season played.
That's why we need to be careful with the matchups -- they're going to get loose. And at some point, Streit-Schenn will be out there. It's just that with Streit-Schenn, any mistake that Schenn makes, Streit likely isn't going to be able to cover it, while Streit...again, I like him as a player. But Kessel, Lupul and JVR are going right by him, and Schenn won't be able to cover that at all times.

My question is why play Laughton with Rinaldo and Rosehill, and not 3rd line LW with more talented players, put Talbot with the grinders? |

Frank Seravalli @DNFlyers 2m
Looks like Scott Laughton will be scratched tonight in favor of Jay Rosehill. Skating with extras Gill and Gustafsson.
uhhhhhhh

Lavy already making bad decisions. Fire his ass. - FLYERSROCK!
To me this means 1 of 2 things. Either he is defiantely here for the entire season and Lavi plans to make this decision at times, or it wasn't Lavi's choice to keep him for the 9 game tryout.
I just cant see a reason you would have him here for a 9 game tryout, if you dont plan to play him those 9 games. Or can someone clarify is it 9 games he plays. So if he sits out more games then he could still be sent down once he plays in this 9th game.... |

Not respecting Kessel's ability to pass is what really burned Schenn on that play. |

That would make sense for tonight. I don't want to see Laughton up against the Leaf 4th line yet.
Also, Shirley if Laughton sits out it doesn't count against his 9 games, does it? |

Because Talbot is an NHL player, and Laughton's just getting his feet wet. |

You can't hide your 2nd pairing from from the best players. It's just not possible unless you want Timonen and Coburn playing 30 minutes.
Schenn and Streit simply have to be good enough. |

Other beat writers (most notably Timmy) saying Hall is the scratch, not Laughton. No Hall jersey in locker room. |

Yes it does, as he'll be a roster player. Same thing happened with Buffalo scratching Grigorenko last year. |
