Ranger played a full season last year with some of the same teammates. He played in the pre season like everyone else. Not buying this, give him time thing. He has lost a couple of steps, its too bad but he has.

Again as the great Bob Mack says... Don't look too far into the first week. Let him settle in, he isn't a robot. It's not like him jumping in as a legitimate top 4 from game 1 is reasonable, he was expected to be a bottom pair.

My thoughts from yesterdays game:
1. I'm more than happy to be wrong about Bernier. I hoped he'd be good but wasn't sure he was really an improvement on Reimer. He just looks so steady in the net and I love the fact it's not an adventure when he handles the puck. I still love Reimer, but having two guys is something that makes me believe we can win any game at any time, even when the competition is deeper or stronger.

2.Gardiner and Ranger performances.....Gardiner will get better, and I truly believe so will Ranger. Many of you may forget, the first 5 games or so last year, Mark Fraser was getting the Holzer treatment. Let Ranger get comfortable, he hasn't cost us any wins and neither has Gardiner. Also love the fact that Carlyle is getting down and dirty in communicating with Gardiner what he needs with him, like one-on-one rather than just ripping him in the media. Again, patience guys, I think these two guys will work out, Gardiner especially.

3. Franson: I don't think we can call him just a 5/6 d-man anymore. 25 minutes and 22.5 minutes in the first two games, and continuing to help the PP. He's a legit top 4 d-man and he's getting better.

4. I really like Bolland, hell I like all our forwards. And I think we can lay off with the Bozak hate. He's doing just fine.

Really want to see a big win against the Sens...we can't be as sloppy against them IMO - they look like they might be tough to beat...3 solid lines and goaltending that is out of this world. ( and pretty good D too )

he wasn't that bad, we won - 1 of his gaffes in the 1st...he went to dump hard off the far boards on a change and the puck waffled on him a bit and it ended up going out soft and lead to a good shot on net.

Cause he had a good few games against bottom 6 and ahlers? let him season a little

Leaf's PK last year was one of the best, and the offseason's acquisitions only strengthened the guys on paper(2 games is too early to call it better)... so who knows. Preseason is pointless.
