we are not in a position to just stick him at #2 center and allow for him to improve. we go out and get vinny and schenn has to be a winger and there certainly is an adjustment period. season 3 was the breakout yr for richards, but the pressure on schenn is greater now than it was for MR in '08. i still think we will see vinny on G's line w/ jake at times, w/ schenn moving in the middle. i could also see a scenario where BS is moved for a scoring winger if ES scoring is a struggle. - isaiah520
I agree with this; I wish the Flyers could have waited on Schenn at center, but they don't wait on anyone. They do not wait, for better or worse.

Holy crap - Leino cracked a rib in his first game and is out indefinately?
Wow...
Sorry if this was brought up earlier. I feel bad for the guy but I'm glad we dodged that bullet. |

Ha! See...that was a prime example of a "mix-changer!" Montreal was sour about that until 2008 -- that trade indirectly got Patrick Roy traded to Colorado, after the Legion of Doom chased him from the net! - AllInForFlyers

Probably just blind luck, with all the other bullets that have hit Homer square in the face. |

i agree with whoever was discussing crashing the net
they needed that in the third and it seemed very obvious to me
drives me crazy - -davies-
Yep, in that situation, the pretty goals aren't going to be there for the most part. Need to get the puck to the net, and crash then net. Get one of those dirty but good lunchpail goals. And it also helps to score on a PP chance in the 3rd also. But they also need to do the same thing there. Get the puck to the net, and outnumber the opposition at the net. Instead of always looking for cross ice passes for one timers. Blast it from the point wiht traffic at the net. |

Seems as though they're waiting on Couturier and Laughton currently. And they certainly waited on Vorack. |

You know...that one...I've long felt that one had little to do with hockey, other than the fact that the decision was made easier after management realized that they likely wouldn't beat Pittsburgh and Boston with them.

He was talking about early-season trades.
That said, that trade was made during a lockout-shortened season, so the Flyers didn't have the luxury of waiting to see if the problem worked itself out. |

Need to get into the zone first... I appreciate that they have become more of a puck-possession team, especially with respect to zone-entries, but when the other team is playing turtle, you've just got to dump that sucker in deep and then work your @ss off. |

Saturday's a good game for that to happen -- the Habs are the perfect team to score dirty goals against. They hate it, but it's true: Their forwards are small and can be knocked off the puck.
Just gotta do it. |

On a positive note, the Rangers and Devils looked pretty bad last night in terms of defensive play, which is interesting based on the fact that that is supposed to be a significant strength for both clubs.
I'm not convinced the Rangers will be as good as everyone says they will be this year. Hope I'm right. - mcefalu
I'm willing to bet the house Schneider NEVER gives up a fat rebound like he did on the first Pens goal and Lundqvist never plays so so like he did against the Yotes when they play the flyers |

I'm gonna get (some) Hell for this, but Gagne seems like a better 3rd line fit than Newbury. I had no problem with Laughton there, but if Newbury is the answer, I'd prefer Gagne on the 3LW and Talbot on the 4th. |

Newbury is a career minor leaguer. Talbot will probably stay on the third line until they are forced to trade for someone who can score. |

not at all, I said it yesterday. If they weren't keeping Laughton, I really wish they would have brought Gagne back |

I just want the Pirates to win because they've been a joke for so long (i.e. "Pittsburgh, City of Champions...and the Pirates). Plus, my wife's from Pittsburgh, although I've converted her to a Phillies' fan. |
