Can anyone tell me if Joakim Nordstrom is only 160 lbs? He definitely looks to be at least 6'1" but he plays a lot bigger than 160 l bs. - FourOrr
He looks north of 180 EASY to me.

John Jaeckel: Your 2013-14 Rockford Ice Hogs - John Jaeckel
Have a question and not sure anyone here can answer. But I will give it a shot. I know all the NHL teams get money from the TV contracts. With the Hawks playing on NBC for game 1 and a lot of other games also on the NBC network do the Hawks get any extra money for those games? My guess is no but don't know. Then you have the Comcast and WGN contract. They are losing a lot of games because the Hawks are on the National feed and not the local broadcast. Are the Hawks losing revenue because of this? My guess would be the Hawks would get a lot more money if all their games were on Comcast and WGN as apposed to being on the network. Can anyone tell me how it works? While I love the Hawks are so good the network wants them all the time, does it hurt them revenue wise in the long run? Example- The Panthers get the same split as the Hawks but the Panthers most likely will not lose many if any local broadcasts. I know the extra exposure helps in jersey sales but is that enough? |

For sure...doing the Bears/Hawks doubleheader Nov. 10...and just watching the Avs game...Steve Downie is A BEAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTEEEEE. Nice comeback he's made after a tough knee injury. - philco28
That was a bs play that Bartleby did to Downie, driving him into the net when he was off-balance. Could have really gotten hurt, then he has to fight Nystrom to top it off. I hope Downie changes, seemed like a real bully in Juniors |

OK I'm bored, I will give it a shot. All national TV revenue is split equally. For instance, while the Hawks rarely appear on HNIC, they benefit from that contract. I believe local TV contracts are the ownership of the team. Personally, I would venture a guess that any exposure on a national level would offset any losses from local broadcast due to merchandise sales, national broadcast sponsors and things of that nature. OR I could be completely off the mark. I am sure it more complicated given the language in the CBA. |

It was a dangerous play for sure. Downie gets up looking to throw down and Eric Nystrom, first on the scene, obliges. Network rolled in a wicked hilite melt of Downie's exploits in this game and just WOW. He plays HARD...yes and ON THAT EDGE too, which has gotten him into trouble. But he BRINGS IT.
P.A. Parenteau was interviewed after the game and was asked about Downie's play....he laughed, smiled huge and said "He's crazy".

The main D-bag play was the earlier Downie hit on Josi. That looked like a launch-type head shot. You never know what the Shanny Wheel of Justice will determine, but if Torres had done that he'd be looking at 10+ games. |

I love the energy too (and I love big hits), but that one looked over the top to me. There would be 100 posts on here if he had hit Toews like that...

Damn, no wonder Nystrom jumped him later. Too bad akim Alou wasn't on Nashville. Or even the nhl. |

Thanks for this Mo...i missed this last night...but 1000 % agreed that it was a CHEAP SHOT and the outrage here would have been deafening had it been against us.
Downie laid in the weeds, saw a guy with his head down and cheaply pounced with a mini run at Josi. Eerily reminiscent of his hit on Dean McAmmond that resulted in a 20 game suspension a few years back.

It seemed similar to Torres/Hossa, but I couldn't think of how it was similar - "laying in the weeds" is a good description. We'll see what Shanny has to say; could be anything from nothing further to the rest of the season... |

Yeah, like Torres, he seemed to recognize that "hey, I got a freebie here" and took it. Josi was low, so perhaps he didn't target the head like Torres did. You can tell that Roy loves him some Downie. Should be an interesting set of game between the Hawks and Avs; I suspect some serious crap outta the Avs. Generally not a fan of staged fights, but this might be a time for Bollig to lay down the law early with him. - mohel
Said it a few days ago...the Avs are once again a PROBLEM. Young, talented as phuck and now have a head coach with the resume that spells PURE WINNER...despite the fact he's a sack o poop. |

Strictly in the interest of impartiality, can I suggest you watch Andrew Shaw closely game to game. He's hardly an angel out there. |

According to the Predator's blog Shanny has said no further action in regards to Downie will be taken. - rtang415
Cheers...Downie will get his someday...always happens.
Rozy and Brookbank scratched tonight per Myers. Hope Rozy's not ailing.

What goes around comes around. Torres found that out. |
