I'd consider tossing Matt Read on that 1st unit with Voracek/Giroux. Put Hartnell on the 2nd unit. - Pixote Andolini
Nah, gotta maintain the chemistry with Vinny, I think |

I've thought about it and thought about it, and I honestly can't remember the last time (other than last season, obviously) that this team has just not scored at even strength.
Even the team from The Season That Shall Not Be Named scored goals.
I don't know what it's going to take right now -- the scoring just isn't there. - AllInForFlyers
They aren't getting any pucks to the net. Only shots are from distance. And certainly not any second chance shots. If A Goalie like Price can see the type of shots that the Flyers are generating. You're not going to score too many goals. |

Is it too much to ask for the basics of (frank)ing hockey? For the last two seasons this team can't even string passes together. Either it's off line or the receiver can't accept the pass with any sort of skill. The attack is one and done. They have no flow. They run around like chickens with their heads cut off. The just putrid. This is not a playoff team. I'd be surprised if they finish higher then 5th to worst in the league. I'm freaking falling asleep and I'm pissed I'm wasting my last few hours before work watching a team that hasn't bothered to show up since game one of the preseason. - Flyers1218
There's definitely something to that -- in this sport right now, you don't get that extra half-second to reach for the puck before you start generating offense. Every team, even the bad ones, know how to play angles and direct teams to areas.
Again -- look. I know it frustrated some when I said it earlier, but maybe this team needs an injection of pure skill. Another defenseman and another Top 6 forward who flat-out score.
And no, I don't know where to get them. No, I don't know how much it will cost, other than it will be expensive.
But damn it, we might need it.

More like the players aren't able to create anything similar to a real scoring chance. |

I give Laviolette a lot of credit for how he has changed how they play. Now we just need the players to back it up.

over/under on when we get a 5 on 5 goal? - dillpx183
Thanksgiving, when Holmgren, Lavy, Berube, and Reese are fired, when Hartnell is traded, and Big Schenn, Grossmann, Mez, Lecavalier, Giroux, and Mason are hurt and the team is 3-19 |

Part of the reason why I think they are 2-3 years out imo is that they need a real infusion of elite talent on that back end.
The HNIC crew did point out something interesting. They run around too much in their own zone. There is aggressive, but there is also reckless man on man chasing, getting out of position.
Its 2 games, and there is still the 3rd. I can admit however, and I am a big Lava fan, that I dont know if he survives this too much longer if it continues.

Well probably because the players on the ice need to:
shoot and then hit the net when they shoot.
Something they are not doing to this point.

They have the forwards needed to drive the net.
Problem is many of those forwards arent great at actually taking the puck the distance. Montreal is active with their sticks and takes away these chances.
It just comes down to chemistry for me. Need the big boys to go down low and drag the puck out to the front of the net. Get the skill guys to actually bring it into the zone.
The one issue I continously see, is that its really rare for a d-man to carry the puck in. Chemistry is a big thing. |
