I think more important then a coaching team is a trade needs to be made to actually get some additional forward talent.

This mix just doesn't have it and if you change to an ultra defensive system with a new coach then great they would be losing 1-0.

One thing I know is this: I like Zac Rinaldo as a player. But you can't keep playing him with Sean Couturier -- what does Laviolette expect Couturier to do at 20 years old? Carry Rinaldo AND Maxime Talbot?

Get Couturier a 20-goal winger, for one -- you took Matt Read from him, and God bless Brayden Schenn, but SOMEBODY in the organization has to understand that Couturier needs a winger who can score so he can develop.

Depends on who is in.

Problem with this defense is one thing. A bunch of dudes that have too one-dimensional games, and not enough overall talent. Even with Guss, he can move the puck to a degree. However he will get exposed and out muscled down low.

Luke Schenn himself is being exposed right now. They need more elite players back there. Im honestly not really suprised and nobody should be. Compare that D core to the rest of the east. They are right where they should be.

Holmgren loves mediocrity on his defense.
