Problem with this defense is one thing. A bunch of dudes that have too one-dimensional games, and not enough overall talent. Even with Guss, he can move the puck to a degree. However he will get exposed and out muscled down low.

Luke Schenn himself is being exposed right now. They need more elite players back there. Im honestly not really suprised and nobody should be. Compare that D core to the rest of the east. They are right where they should be.

There is nothing wrong with having a really solid shutdown 3rd line center, but Coots has shown me essentially nothing to say he has offensive talent to translate into the NHL.

I like Simmonds, I like his grit and his toughness. But he should NEVER, EVER be in a position to have to handle the puck. He just doesn't have the hands. He needs to go to the front of the net and get ugly.

I dunno, I think we have to put him in more offensive situations to know how he'll do offensively. Right now they might as well just list him as a defenseman on the roster.

I'm not ripping, I'm just saying that in Couturier's rookie season, he was playing with Voraeck and Simmonds and Read, because Jagr was here.

Now he's playing with Maxime Talbot and sometimes Zac Rinaldo at even strength -- that is not going to get it done. That won't work.
