We have plenty of talent, we just can't finish. On paper we're one of the deepest top 9s in the league. Right now we're not showing it.
also, what a save by Razor - JAKEw1234
Not gonna score if all you get is one shot and no second chances. The transition game and zone entry are a mess, because they play with no discipline and don;t support the puck well. They get one shot, stop gets made, and then they don't get to the rebound, because there's no discipline in their game. |

I am not saying to trade Coots. Even if he does end up purely as say a Handzus type of player there is nothing wrong with that.
Although it may be a little too optimistic to expect him to be a real big point producer. Even with who he has played with, he hasnt shown much in terms of offensive ability.
Again. Nothing wrong with that, but expecting a lot out of the kid, when really it may never happen... Which at this point, call it a negative outlook or whatever. Is what Im seeing, and have been ever since the Pittsburgh playoff round. - flyer_nutter
I HATED the way Lavy used him last year and can't say I love who he plays with for the most part. He is being used strictly in a defensive mode. as someone had stated a page back, when Jagr was there, Couturier was used in a slightly more offensive role. I think this team lacks one more top 9 guy for my liking. I like Talbot but honestly, I prefer him more on the 4th line and as a PK specialist |

b schenn and simmonds are not top 6 material right now. - Just5
Atleast I have seen something from them. Claude has been a no show for the first 2 games.
I expect a whole lot more from a 7mil#1 center. He needs to step up his non existent game. |

Technically, Simmonds could have been called for interference on White, as he hit him when the puck wasn't near him....but they called a cross check |

That was me, and I endorse every single word of this point.
They're killing Sean Couturier by inches -- Maxime Talbot's a fourth-liner, folks. I'm sorry. But that's what he is. |

The ref had no intention to call a penalty on Simmonds until after the fight to even up the penalties.
Just a poor, gutless call by the ref. |

I still say the D is the biggest culprit here.
They mentioned it on HNIC, and while they are usually full of poop, sometimes they are right.
There is a huge disconnect between the forwards and D. They arent playing as a 5 man unit.
That D has to improve in terms of quality for once, not quantity. |

What bothers me is, Giroux and Voracek had good chemistry last year, and Lecavalier and Simmonds looked good in preseason, and Couturier had his best offensive play when playing with Read last year and in the preseason...why split those pairs? |

If I'm remembering correctly Coburn was almost entirely responsible for 2 of the goals tonight. |

The forwards have to win some battles in the offensive zone. They have to get a shot on net more regularly instead of taking maybe ONE shot, missing, and having the play go the other way.

The fact of the matter is that the team went bargain bin shopping on goalie instead of making the move for Bernier. They have 5 defenseman who can't play defense and one who can barely skate after game 20. Couterier and B Schenn in the last two years have proven to be barely more then serviceable in the NHL and that's being polite. The rest of the team is extremely streaky. Factor in the head coach wants them to play a style they aren't capable of and their assistant coach didn't do anything but fight. Yeah, I'd say this team is (frank)ed. |

If the defenseman has the puck in the Flyers defensive zone, and the nearest forward is stationary at the other team's blue line, I'm not sure how that's the defense's fault.
You have to adjust to what your team can do. |

Grossmann and Schenn can play defense. Streit isn't bad defensively. Coburn and Mez can't compete, and it shows on the scoreboard. |
