not really, inertia is the propensity for a body in motion to stay in motion (or at rest to stay at rest). Momentum refers to the quantity of motion that an object has. By definition momentum refers to moving objects, while inertia can refer to a stationary or moving obtect, but they are not, strictly speaking, opposite.

These hits happen because big hits not only spark the crowd but it also sparks the team as well. Guys like Downie love to throw these big hits but get carried away and take it too far. I wouldn't go so far as to say he purposely does it to hurt the guy but he is very careless when it comes to throwing the body

Some people think that all hits that cause injury or hurt someone should be illegal. It's just not worth arguing with them.
