See, to me? That's the very definition of not being talented enough. - AllInForFlyers
The coach hasn't done a particularly good job, but this is obviously a flawed roster.
The coach, and GM will be gone fairly soon. |

If a guy is a talented plumber, and you ask him to do electrical work and he sucks, it doesn't mean he's not a good plumber.
That's a bit extreme, but they're set up to fail, and honestly, I think that they've tuned Laviolette out. There's no fire, no nothing. They're getting killed along the walls, outworked and outplayed by huge margins.
It's going to be real interesting and soon if there's not movement in the right direction. |

I feel like there's effort....just not the right kind of effort.
This team huffs and puffs for goals and their talent dictates otherwise. |

This team is being asked to play a way they are incapable of playing. The result is that they play stupid low percentage hockey. I actually do think they are working out there, but much the way a swimmer works hard swimming against a raging river. Way too much effort and yet still moving backwards.
Couple this with the constant poor puck decisions, passing, shooting, giveaways. It goes on and on. They are a train wreck out there and there seems to be no solution coming from the bench except work harder, execute better, blah blah blah.
It is time now. A change needs to be made.

Starts at the (frank)ing top of the organization and trickles down.
There is no easy fix here, and no matter what system Lava has them running Holmgren is in charge of the whole show. - flyer_nutter
Nutter what is worse Bomber or Flyer offense? Tough for us being fans of these 2 teams right now isn't it.

Ive been watching this team for 40 years, and I would say you are absolutely correct: This team has tuned out the coach. Make a change |

The scary thing is the Flyers are getting dominated by teams that aren't even good.
The Leafs, Habs, and Canes are middle to bottom of the Conference teams. |

too many bad decisions with puck high in the offensive zone
too many guys not moving their feet
too many guys running around instead of playing their positions properly
No consistent forecheck
No crispness in the breakouts or the passing game
Not enough traffic going to the net
This is just getting really, really old. - BiggE
1. Lack of elite hockey sense offensively
2. Inability to read the play quickly enough to anticipate where to go so they keep moving
3. Inability to dump the puck precisely enough to make it a 50-50 puck
4. Straight-up lack of skill; unable to give or receive passes
5. Inability to create quality offensive chances due to lack of hockey sense, therefore not knowing when to drive the net as the puck is going to arrive
Add to that a lack of speed on the back end, and that's where we are.
It's that simple.

They can't move the puck out of their own end consistently and when they do get zone time, they're generating little more than one offs, where they get a shot and almost no second chances to bang in a rebound or get an ugly goal. |

Stake me to the cross if you will but, simmonds and Hartnell are part of the problem, one or the other needs to go. They are just to 1 dimensional in what they bring to the team..they couldnt keep the puck on their stick if you slapped a pound of flubber to the blades..they constantly loose puck battles for men of their size. lose pucks off their sticks etc. - Buzzo
Simmonds is younger, cheaper, and can skate without falling down but Hartnell has the crazy hair and most likely a no movement clause because that's just how Homer rolls.
Hartnell can't be traded or sent to the minors or waived unless he feels like it. So if Hartnell wants to play for the Flyers for the next 5 years there's nothing you, Laviolette, Holmgren, or Snider can do about it. Basically, he's got tenure. |

Winnipeg Blue Bombers are what 2-12 or something?
I try not to mention that here, otherwise we may come out as some kind of curse.
Both are frankly a joke right now, and in both cases I blame management. In the Bombers case it extends to the BOG.

Bill,
Do you think the problems could be solved with a new coach, or do you think the issues run deeper into personnel? - mikel33
They have talent at every position--almost more so than most teams in the NHL.
Many teams with much better records the past two seasons would love to have 6 quality forwards (Giroux, Read, Lecavalier, Voracek, Hartnell, Simmonds) and two good prospects (Schenn & Cooter). As well as guys like Timonen, Schenn, and Streit.
Coach has gotta go. He has shown no ability to modify his style of play since 2009-10. |

Glad he was sent back, I'd rather let me work on his game & get ice time in all areas than 4th line or press box here. |
