Not to be a negative nelly but, just why is g being paid 8 mil? When I hear 8 mil I think Crosby Malkin stamkos ovechkin. When I hear 5 to 6 mil I think of g. |

Instead of all you guys bashing individual player performances, I really think you should look at the team as a whole. They lack consistency. Even Giroux looks like a ghost. Last time I checked there isnt one single player in this league that can make plays without the help of the 4 other guys on the ice to either set up in good position, make a nice pass, get in the dirty area. This team has no puck support and it looks like they are all skating in sand. No way is every single player on this team that bad. Vinny, Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds, Hartnell, are all studs. So whats the deal? No teamwork, cohesiveness at this point. I really think that Laviolette is gone, his fault or not. |

Before you start bashing Giroux, none of those players you listed above would have made a difference on the flyers so far this season. |

I agree with all of this except certain players like Crosby malkin stamkos ov and a few others do indeed make huge plays on their own and almost nightly. These are the elite. I just dont see g as that type. Not yet anyway. I truly hope he reaches that status but mes thinking it's going to s stretch for him to reach it |

Because the new CBA outlaws the type of contract that saw guys like Giroux sign for ten years with the salary back diving to make the cap hit better. |

I think peoples expectations are too high for this team as a whole and on personal levels also. My main interest is to see both schenns, simmer, coots, Mason, g, checky, read continue to improve and develop. That's the core. Any extras like playoffs or whatnot is a bonus. We aren't winning cup anytime soon. Now if improvements aren't made I hope it's not because of pressure to mSke playoffs and cup run from management. Admit we are rebuilding and donT do anything sTupid like trade core players to try to make playoffs. I'm not saying accept losing or anything like that but be realistic and stay the course. Maybe lavi isn't the teaching coach and shoulD be replaced. But keep big picture in mind. Still think this team is going to be deadly in a few years as long as they are patient |

Yeah I get that but g would have been restricted at end of last contract I believe. No need to jump to 8 mil deal. No one else is getting that deal really. And they shouldn't unless they are the elite. I just don't see g as elite. Not yet anyways And I don't think he will ever be. I hope I'm wrong but they could have done another bridge deal. Not that it would have saved them a whole lot but maybe Im just wishing g played up to the standard of that cOntract is all I guEss |

Since the new CBA has been completed, there have been 5 or 6 guys who have signed new deal with $8mm+ cap hits. Giroux, Perry, Getzlaf, Kessel, Malkin.
I don't have much doubt that Giroux will rebound. He's generally been a slow starter and he's also coming off an injury. |
