Snider is cranky - nastyflyergirl
I don't blame him -- what do they want him to say?
"Yeah, we should've automatically fired the guy who took us to a championship final in 2010. We shouldn't have given him a chance. But when we did, and we look exactly like we did last year, we should bury our heads in the sand and not make a move?"
This is horrible. But what do they want Snider to say -- not making the playoffs is acceptable, IF you look like you're not going to make it again? |

Also, a lot of people are shocked by Scott Laughton's current point production. As a few have said before, he belongs in the AHL. The age rule is dumb. - mcefalu
I'm not shocked by it. I expected it and hope it continues.
I agree he belongs in the AHL. |

well, I just heard the problem directly from the horses mouth:
Snider: "we don't need a fresh perspective"
Nothing will change until they realize that it certainly couldn't hurt. - matman31
Well they brought in Hitchcock and Laviolette from outside the organization with decent results in the short-term. Whatever contract Berube has now, he'll be gone if they don't make the playoffs. |

"we don't need a fresh perspective"
As we're at a press conference to announce a new coach.
Aye aye aye. I love the emotion, frustrated at the idea of thinking outside the system - aosplayo

What's funny is I think the suggestion is a stupid one, that just because Berube is a Flyers guy he's got some 'un-winning culture' tacked to him. But that quote is gold, Snider walked right into that. |

I think I've heard Howard say on his 610 days that no one cares about hockey.. I could be wrong.. but interesting how he is always in the mix with them |

Hitch actually was a Flyers assistant in the early 90's, so even he was kind of a guy they had in the organization before. |

First question:
"So coach Berube, how do you plan on keeping your high-paid defense from panicking and blindly throwing the puck up the boards as soon as they get it, as that was obviously a designed part of the former coach's plan?"
Second question:
"Now that you've answered how the defenseman are going to make flawless decisions with the puck, how do you plan to increase chances in the offensive zone? It was clear that the former coach instructed the players to make cross-ice passes when they're on top of each other and to allow defenders to block their shots." |

Sports radio hosts in this town have been saying that no one cares about hockey for years. It's why I stopped listening to sports radio. |

I think he just knows to press the 'persecution complex' button on hockey fans. It's a reliable go to when looking for a reaction. |

who was the reporter who asked the Culture question? - Crimsoninja
Not sure but it was kind of rude the way it was asked. They could have asked "Have you ever thought about bringing in someone from outside the organization to help change the culture?"
Instead it was like "Your team hasn't won in 38 years. Have you thought about bringing in a coach from a winner?"
You knew he'd get all upset about that.
To be fair though, Lavi was an outside the organization guy with a proven track record of winning. |

That's ridiculous. So Ed doesn't need a culture change huh? If we miss the playoffs and Homer stays I will lose it. |

I should say that I wasn't referring to the coaches...GM position has been filled with individuals who have been long time Flyers...it's not like other organizations don't produce qualified hockey people. What's wrong with looking elsewhere for once? |
