Pretty much.
To me, it says they're going to find a more desirable candidate if/when they become available.
Berube's a company man... he'll get his day in the sun, and then get reincorporated when they bring in the big name everybody's looking for. - Tomahawk
so they don't name berube interim so he's not the lame duck but tell him behind closed doors he is really interim and will be "fired" once they find who they want and then rehired as a scout or something? |

No, I'm actually fine with a coaching change. Something needed to give. But to me, the problems run deeper than the coach. Unless he was instructing his players to blindly throw pucks up the wall or make centering passes to opponents in their own zone. - jmatchett383
First thing he needs to do is tell the forwards to get back and give the defense someone to pass to.

I know that was reported by Dreger. was just curious to why nothing was said outside of McCarthy being let go too. Didnt know if I missed it. |

They do, I doubt anyone feels that a simple change behind the bench is a cure-all. But it needed to happen, and should have happened before today |

The lack of interim status could be to keep the players from slacking, knowing their coach is just a seat warmer |

Berube was head coach of the Phantoms, went 46-27-4 in 2007-08 - Jsaquella
yes we all know that - but does 1 season of coaching in the AHL make you experienced?? Maybe. |

No team in the history of the world has ever gone 0-3 and had anything good come of it. If and 0-3 start means that the team is doomed and will be awful, they might as well just stop playing and rest up for next year. |

Which is why its only a matter of time before Hextall takes over. I know Snider needs to get off his high horse, just because he is 80 something and thinks he's going to croak soon. |

They really shouldn't care because if they continue to struggle, Ed is going to fire Homer and blow this thing up. |

There's no upside to adding the interim tag on.
If Berube does great, they just pretend like they knew it was going to happen all along and he's the guy.
Otherwise, everybody's gotta take him seriously in the meantime.

I really don't know how to feel right now. We are only 3 games in. I think this team still has the talent to be a playoff team. They just need to have the work ethic. If anyone can give it to them its Berube and Lappy. Right? |

I know, right? When I pointed out that not scoring goals in the preseason was extremely alarming, it was like I was telling people that Krypton was going to explode and everybody should put Baby Superman in the rocket ship.

Did the Flyers call Stevens interim head coach when he took over for Hitch? I think they did. |

I hope berube makes the players earn ice time. If you aren't going to play hard, warm the bench. Dont care who you are. Don't want to work during the game? We will work after the game. This team needs that blue collar attitude. |

He's also had almost a decade of coaching experience as an assistant. Guys have to start somewhere.
I'd prefer a guy with more experience, but I'm not going to shred the move before he coaches a single game. |
