So on which page was the Grossmann hit discussed?
I'm so glad Bill brought it up in his blog.
I'm still laughing.
Man it was the best thing that happened all game. - FlyersGrace
I can't stop laughing at the Bogosian (frank) up.. That was awesome.. blow a tire, set it on a tee in the slot for Perry of all people?? One timer bang under crossbar. |

With Grossmann and Hartnell hitting guys into Mason last night, I think it's evident the Flyers' players have picked their goalie: Ray Emery. |

It wasn't a Bogosian (or Schenn), but he put his teammates in a tough spot there by not being competitive in the corner and losing a 50/50 puck so quickly/easily. His teammates had no time to recover. - Tomahawk
Shouldn't need time to recover. No player is going to win every puck battle. Streit was not signed because of his stellar defensive play. Regardless of whether Streit got knocked off the puck, or not, no player should be left all alone in front of the net. Good defensive teams make up for a breakdown and help a teammate out. I'm not saying Streit doesn't deseve criticism, but he's far from alone in being the only culprit on the play. And blaming him solely on the play is incorrect. |

Listen, Im so sorry that you cant be excited by this...last week you were telling me to go (frank) myself when i said that this year was going to be like last because of lavy. Now that hes gone and i get excited about some fresh ideas coming to this team you are going to poop on my parade? Talk about a (frank)ing hypocrite - PhillaBully
I just don't think the coach was the issue. I don't see how a coaching change is going to keep the defense from blindly throwing the puck away as soon as they get it, or keep Schenn from not throwing the puck up the middle, or keep the top line looking like they've never played together, or make the defense more...well, defensive.
Like I said, the coaching change is actually good, but there are MUCH deeper problems than that. |

Don't worry I was an impossible to please fan this summer because I criticized the team for the moves they made... Guess the offseason wasn't so hot after all |

Schenn was absolutely expected to be elite. He was touted as the "best player not in the NHL" for a year. Granted, his WJC got overhyped, but it was there. - jmatchett383
he needs more time and sticking him over at wing might push him back a little. |

I disagree. He was expected to be a good player, but he never cast in the same light as true elite players such as Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, or Stamkos. |

Yeah.. I don't think they brought a lot of intelligent thought personally. At one point, Kypreos says, they haven't won since 74 and was corrected. The Maclean says has Berube been a HC anywhere, and he's informed yes at Adirondack. Then Maclean comes back to it after and says, he's only been coach of the Adk Phantoms.. if that's what they are called.. ?? WTF? Then they talked about how weird the culture is of always promoting guys with history with the org, and then it's pointed out the Oilers do things similarly. - Hextall271

As you said, defense is a team game. Just one weak link and the entire thing is vulnerable to break.
And who's blaming Streit solely for the goal? He was on the ice for two bad goals... which was the OP's point to begin with. |

Patrick Sharp also looked nothing like a top-line player when they traded him for Matt Ellison... some guys are worth the wait.
Schenn's was PPG in the PO's and was PPG to start last season I believe... those are good signs. - Tomahawk
Sharp isn't a top line player. He's grown nicely into a 2nd rounder but we all knew he was good. Schenn not so much.
I can't stand Schenn. I'm counting the seconds till he's traded. |

Schenn attempted to make the correct play, he just didn't execute it, and the pass hit off the forecheckers foot, and into the slot. |

Taken 5th overall and considered untouchable until the Flyers offered Mike Richards. The players taken before him, as well as the 2 taken after him, have become top-flight players. I guess we define "elite" differently. |

Like i said its 50/50....i do think however this team is capable of playing much better. Look at the end of last year or the march bryz won player of the month and beat the shutout streak. When this team commits to playing team defense they are soooo much better. Its almost like night and day. I think the brass finally got fed up with Lavy's stubbornness and decided to make the move. |
