In that case, no player can ever be directly responsible for a goal. Heck, he could take the puck, race towards his own net and roof a slap shot past his own goalie, and it's still not his fault because the goalie should have stopped it.
Okay, fine, not all his fault. However, when assigning fault, he was probably the most at fault. Or do all 6 players share equal responsibility? - jmatchett383
I'd say the lack of coverage in front of the net, was most responsible. Leaving an opponent unchecked right on the door step. The goalie had no chance on the play, so I won't blame him. |

Man, the only reason I worry about Sean Couturier is they keep playing him with people who can't score and can't help him score. - AllInForFlyers
They need that 3rd-line winger badly... I'm praying that Nick Cousins pulls a Marchand/Gallagher. |

Berube has no previous head coaching experience, apart from a six-game interim stint with the Phantoms in 2006-07. That season, he was moved up to the NHL to serve as newly appointed head coach John Stevens' assistant, while Kjell Samuelsson was appointed Phantoms head coach. Berube has been a Flyers' assistant coach from that point until now. - bmeltzer
Bill, after being an assistant with the Flyers in 2006-2007, he was sent back to down to head coach the Phantoms for the 2007-2008 season. |

Sharp is a mid-30's goal scorer, close to point per game... you must have high vexpectations for a top-line player.
And he was a 3rd-rounder that nobody really cried about when he was traded away. Who wouldn't take that trade back in a heartbeat?
Honestly, I'd be more worried about Couturier's offense than Schenn's potential. - Tomahawk
I love Sharp. He's not a top line guy, but he's a great 2nd line guy. Again though, this is just my opinion of him. I could be trying to lower his trade value. I was devastated when they traded him. |

Agreed. Hopefully he gets a call up in the near future to see what he can do. |

B Schenn was never expected to be an elite player by anyone. - MJL
He was compared to Joe Thorton by Central Scouting and that was before he tore the roof off of it in the World Juniors.
Of course if you can only allow yourself to see four elite players in the NHL and they're all forwards then I guess you've limited your perspective. |

Tomahawk, I'm not sure the average person truly understands how much they need that winger. I really don't.
They need that winger desperately. |

the lack of patience with developing talent just boggles my mind. maybe Schenn ends of being a bust, maybe he doesn't, I just think its way too early to determine that. people killed JVR and wanted him gone from the time he decided to go back to college for a second year. Now people female dog and moan that the Flyers gave up on him. Drives me up a (frank)ing wall. |

Man, you really do love to defend Mark Streit. You've been singing his praises since the day he was signed and refuse to assign him blame while applauding every single little thing he does right. I'm not gonna beat on him because the team's been pretty awful so far, but he's been pretty bad defensively, and he's done little to offset his defensive shortcomings. |

Yep. As I said, he was "expected" to be elite (as I'd say the "best player not in the NHL" should be). Not saying he's a bust since he isn't, just that he was expected to be, eventually. - jmatchett383
Best player not in NHL is not elite by no means...It means that other people in your draft class are already playing in the NHL. If he was considered elite he would have made the NHL @18 like Mackinnon |

There were no less than three Flyers near the crease during that play... Schenn, plus Simmonds and Read collapsing down. The turnover and subsequent pass from behind the net were bang-bang so no time for any of the three defenders to turn around. |

I am curious to see what he does with lines as well. The players need to start playing like they give a poop right off the hop here. |

Look, thornton had 7 points in 55 games in his first year, 41 in 81 in his second, 60 in 81 in his third and 71 in 72 in his 4th. Sometimes guys take longer. I'm not ready to label Couturier or Schenn busts already. |

I agree. I know they are buddies and thrilled to play with each other. Fine do it in the lcoker room cuz Hartnell isn't doing crap on the ice. Time to shake him out of his miserable performances. We all know he's better than this! |

Sharp isn't a top line player? Maybe not on a stacked team like Chicago, but the dude would be a top line scorer on a boatload of other teams. - mcefalu
To be fair I don't consider Hartnell a top line player. When I say top line player I'm referring to an elite player. Probably should have clarified that. |

I can understand why Lavi so desperately wanted Voracek to click on that 3rd-line... it would completely change the complexion of this team if that 3rd-line could be counted on for 12-14min of ES ice. |

Totally agree. I ignore comments that say players are a bust when they are really just developing. I am more concerned when the org mismanages them. JVR and Bob may have been examples although I like Luke... another player who was rushed and written off haha |

Berube should have been named interim head coach and see where it goes. Why give an unproven guy a big contract. I guess the flyers are loaded with cash so that is there business but in the real world you don't throw it away until it is deserved. |
