I am not really encouraged by the Berube hiring. I won't trash it immediately, because he may well turn out to be a very capable head coach.
The lack of head coaching experience worries me. He was head coach of the Phantoms for about three weeks, when he got brought up to the Flyers after the Hitchcock firing. - Jsaquella
let me put your mind at ease. FS says the players love the chief and will go through a wall for him. |

What a poop show. Go through an entire off-season and training camp and poop can the coach 3 games into the season. So instead of having an assortment of qualified coaches to hire, Craig (frank)ing Berube is now the head coach of the Flyers.
Absolute (frank)ing mess. Ineptitude at an all time high. |

I agree, What does he know about systems and in game adjustments etc? Especially if he has been learning under Lavy? What will he really change on this team? A little more Rah Rah? Team needs more then that at this moment - Buzzo
Man, you're about to make a grown man cry.

Now the team has to learn a new system on the Fly... spectacular - Pyzik
i really think they should have given the reigns over to murray. I think berube might be a filler for a couple of games till they make a decision....This rash move has sniders fingerprints all over it. |

That's my hope. I'm not going to write off Berube without seeing him coach one game, but if he's going to keep Lavi's system the results won't be any better. I'd prefer Berube and Murray to swap roles for the season. |

Can only blame execution for so long. Teams adapted to the system. We didn't adapt to their changes. - Flyersgod
None of the systems that are used by any team is anything new. The Flyers didn't execute well. And made a lot of individual mistakes. Those things can be cleaned up. My point was simply this. I feel that Laviolette made adjustments needed in systems play coming into the Season. He deserves credit for that. They obviously weren't sharp yet in executing new breakout schemes, as evidenced by the Schenn turnover leading to a goal last night.
In my opinion, what got Laviolette fired, was the team's lack of heart, work ethic, and competitiveness, that is evident in the last 2 games. To a disturbing level. Why that is, I can't explain. Espeically 3 games into a new Season. No excuse for it from the players. Maybe they tuned him out, I don't know. I can't explain it. |

I prefer that to playing within the same old system. |

The results could certainly be better if this team comes out and matches the work ethic and compete level of the opposition. |

I'm not going to just write him off either, but unless they have an amazing turn around, I would expect a new coach in the offseason. |

This isn't football where players are required to learn a playbook as thick as a phone book.
The players will be fine. Berube, if he's smart, will simplify things enough to keep them competitive.
At least, I hope that's what Berube does in order to keep Holmgren from making a panic trade where he dumps Brayden Schenn for Matt Ellison 2.0. |

The only thing I can think of is that they had quit on him. I hate to think that happened, but what I saw to start this season was equally disturbing. |

Maybe they're hoping that if the lackadaisical play continues, Berube will grab one of the culprits and beat some heart into him?!?! |

If only I had waited two minutes I could have saved some typing. Wow! Three games! That's it! Maybe Berube is a great coach but it just seems more of the same from this team. Maybe the next coach could be Dave Poulin or Tim Kerr or Rob Zettler or Jiri Dopita or Kevin Haller or Brent Fedyk or Pelle Eklund or Andy Delmore or insert random former Flyer's name - mickel25
Or Paul Coffey or Robert Esche or Valeri Zelepukin or Donald Brashear or Radovan Somik or Tommy Soderstrom or Kjell Samuelsson or Derian Hatcher or Eric Desjardins or Billy Tibbetts |

I don't think the Flyers will be an a position to trade young players for veterans if they continue to struggle. |

Waiting until now to fire Laviolette was a big waste of time. Anyways, even after all of this I'm sad to see him go, I really enjoyed his intensity. |
