I think you drastically overlook and underestimate how much offensive talent this team has. And aren't aware of how much offensive talent the Flyers have on the forward line compared to the rest of the League.
- MJL

Well, then. I stand corrected. Silly me, telling the world that losing three forwards outright and seeing regressions by two more, with the only offsets being the addition of one forward and progression of one more...isn't a problem, when the team isn't scoring.

I'm the crazy one, again. Silly me.

I think at that point, Clarke also resigned as GM. That was a REAL house cleaning, but I believe the current team has more talent.

I agree.

How many Forwards do you think the Flyers have, that are capable of scoring 20 goals or more?

It's generally the same message whenever a team fires a coach who's team isn't playing with much fire, and is getting badly outplayed.

My gut tells me Berube will be surprisingly effective as head coach.

Not sure if he is the right/wrong choice but lets see how it plays out.

I'm not playing this game with you, MJL. I'm going to point two things that make my point perfectly obvious:

2012-2013: 25th in the league in even-strength goal-scoring ratio
Three games into the 2013-2014 season: Three goals in three games

Let me know when your "capability theory" equals those facts.

I say seven. Couturier can't playing on the third line, getting all the toughest defensive assignments and no PP time.

But Giroux, Hartnell, Voracek, Read, Simmonds, Lecavalier and Schenn all should be able to.

Time to pick the play up. Flyers have to play better. The style of play will be different but there's no reason this team can't be good.

That doesn't make your point perfectly obvious. Nobody myself included has disputed that the Flyers have had trouble scoring ES goals last year, and so far this Season. Anybody can read a stat. That's not the debate. The debate is on why. You think they lack offensive talent. I think you're wrong. And the new Coach seems to agree with me on why they aren't scoring.

And what I offer isn't a theory. I can easily show that the Flyers have one of the deeper offensive corps of Forwards in the League.

I heard that. Tocchet is employed by Comcast, and while he's no shrinking violet, he's probably friends with Berube as they were teammates so I expected him to say good things about Berube.

Can Berube coach at the NHL level? Since he has no track record, no one knows the answer to that question. We are going to find out. I prefer Berube over Murray though if those were the choices.

I certainly agree with the first 6, and I do think Schenn is capable of it, but he hasn't done it yet, so we'll see.

It's tough to use last year, because it was a shortened 48 game Season. But how many NHL teams in the 11/12 NHL Season had 6 or more forwards score 20 or more goals?

What you offer isn't a theory? What you offer isn't a theory?

How many times has Brayden Schenn scored 20 goals? How many times has Sean Couturier?

So. "Theory."

I'm surprised they didn't make this change at seasons end. They waited three games this year to make a move. That's kind of strange. I guess they were expecting different results.
