Josh Rimer @JoshRimerHockey 54s
The next move I expect from the Flyers is to move Chris Pronger to assistant coach. Flyers played better when Chris was around the team.
This tweet gets my wholehearted endorsement - Jsaquella
I don't know if he's capable of doing that.
http://www.csnphilly.com/...-prongers-life-two-worlds
In short, Pronger doesn’t like the potential conflict of interest.
“I’m not saying I can’t [do this],” Pronger said. “There’s a lot of things I would rather not know. I don’t think I need to be part of a lot of things that go in management’s office.
“Still being part of the PA and still being a player on the team and all the rest of that stuff. Scouting is something anybody can do. Putting in reports on teams and systems is something I don’t see a problem with [doing].” |

I'm giving beriberi a chance I mean the guy deserves it but just seems like a total (frank)ing wash rinse repeat deal... - JoeRussomanno
Yeah, who knows.
I suspect that the dysfunction of this team is on a basic roster level... the team just isn't put together very well. Too many post-apex players, plus a lot of hoping/dreaming the kids get better, plus guys that maybe just aren't that good. If Berube can inspire them to play above their heads, like MacLean did with Ottawa last season, this team could have a chance. But they're not making it to the PO's on skill/talent alone, that much is obvious. |

Buccigross just tweeted something about the coach and GM being in hot water - jak521
The GM has to be on the hot seat.
You don't just set $50 some million dollars on fire (i.e.--give it away to Ilya Bryzgalov) and NOT be on the hot seat.

GM should be in hot water, too.
But the bottom line is, eve if they fire Holmgren, hextall or whomever they hire will still be taking orders from Snider. |

They don't have to designate him as assistant coach. They can just let him stand behind the bench.
I don't think this is a reasonable suggestion as Pronger is still suffering from PCS - PhillySportsGuy
That's a good point...If he has PCS (and this is why he is on LTIR) how can he travel with the team etc? Can't see it although I think he'd be a great asst coach. |

I don't think he has sources on the Flyers. He's just stating opinion |

First positive!
Berube will surely scratch Rosehill! - PLindbergh31
Because that has been the problem with this team in 3 games.. Jay Rosehill..
It's not the fact that Newbury has the same points total, in 1 game played, as Giroux, Hartnell, Voracek, Read, Simmonds, Couturier (what is his value again).
Nope..none of that is the problem..They dressed Jay Rosehill that's the or even a problem. |

Well good. Now these mindless turnovers will be negated and we should be good to go 79-3 this year. All we needed was a coaching change and we'll have none of the boneheaded plays in the defensive zone that have plagued us since 2005. - jmatchett383
Yeah true.. clearly wasn't Lavas fault at all. Youd have yo be crazy to think the coach actually tells players what to do.

No free lunch apparently for Prongs... I'm surprised they didn't have him driving the team bus to earn his salary. - Tomahawk
I dont think he is being forced into anything. I think he truly wants to be around for the team and the org. |

I was wondering who would be declared assistant coach. Here's a question though.. How can we hire Pronger as an assistant if he is still on our roster as a player on LTIR? - Hextall271
I'm not sure they can do that |

Do we seriously have to discuss all the elements of winning Hockey? Are you saying that hits and blocking shots are bad things, and is a part of why they're losing? When Nik Gorssmann blocked 3 shots on the same PK shift, that wasn't a good thing? - MJL
Big hits and blocked shots numbers are indicators that your team doesn't have the puck very often. |

Any possibility that this announcement is for both GM and coach to be axed and Hextall take over? |

Tough to win games when you're only shooting 2.4% at even strength. Berube should greatly benefit from regression. |

It sounded like a troll comment. He wanted a reaction as to a previous debate he may have had with someone.
Of course Block shots and hits are not a bad thing. They are just 1 of many aspects to playing winning hockey.
One can argue, I thought "Scoring Goals were a good thing." Only if your stopping them as well. |

Berube with Lappy and possible Pronger as assistants.
Man, I would want to see any player take a shift off with that threesome leading them. |

let me put your mind at ease. FS says the players love the chief and will go through a wall for him. - hammarby31
Lame. I think we need a coach who the players will hate. |

No team makes it to the playoffs on talent and skill alone. This team has a strong roster of individual talent. They need to become a team that refuses to be outworked. Only then will the reap the benefits of that talent. |
