let's see if he can sustain it. his m.o. is looking involved a few games take a few nights off. - rob121
i doubt it. that was his MO in Calgary... streaky with his effort and intensity. otherwise, a guy with his size and skill would be one of the better power forwards in the league. |

no (frank)ing kidding. brutal. DD is better off playing with Prust or Moen than Briere. - scotch_tape
At this point, I think Desharnais needs to watch a few games from the pressbox. |

EE,
I agree that the Flyers need to show more patience and stop recreating the "core" every 3 years.
The issue with lavi was his lack of adjustments. His record against teams like the devils and rangers the last 3 years was brutal.
It was time for a change, the flyers over the last 3 seasons have continued to go in the wrong direction, missing the playoffs last season. |

well, they stepped away from their franchise model to buy Bryzgalov of all goalies they could've invested in.
Bobrovsky was collateral damage--but damned that they did.
And... call Emery the starter, because if he has to share the net with Mason, they'll lose half their games this year. - EricEngels
mason looked good at the end of last season and was good yesterday, i'll wait and see on him |

i didn't like the goalie handling that year but that got wayy compounded the following year with the bob situation
and it was a similar path for lava in carolina, stanley cup then missed the playoffs the next three years
somebody posted quotes in meltz from the carolina gm after they fired him and it was eerily exactly the same as what went on in philly |

If that's true, you make that decision well in advance of training camp. I can't debate that, but Snider et al were buying what Lavi was selling. To shut the car down before it even gets to second gear is a panic move...those generally don't stimulate the intended results.

they lost the game 2-1, and he let in the weakest goal any goalie has let in, in the early part of this season. |

i'm not going to burn the guy at the stake because of one weak goal. he didn't let it shake him up which is nice.
shouldn't be a guaranteed loss with two goals against, that's not on mason. |

agree on that. i don't think the mistake was firing Laviolette. the mistake was not firing him in May. |
