i agree it was awesome.
but there's a reason you never see a veteran pull that kind of move in a blowout. |

Yes, because most vets couldn't make that move 1 time out of 1000.
But I understand your point. If they ragged on Yakupov for his celebration last year, the same pundits and talking heads will no doubt be full retard about this. I'm of the opinion that you either respond on the ice, or shut up about it. If you couldn't stop it, and didn't get your pay back on the ice, then don't bother whining about it after the game.
Gotta admit though, I may watch coaches corner tomorrow just to see Cherry go ballistic. This might be the one that finally makes him stroke out on the air. |

He might as well just paint a target on himself for that little ballet move.
He's a good sized kid, though, so maybe he can take care of himself. |

19 year old kid, 4 goal game, just pulled off a move he only dreamed of doing. Kid was just excited, he didn't think about the score. |

Against another team it would be a little over the top. But under Torterella the Rangers were such mouthy, whiny a-holes for so long I feel like they kind of had it coming (even though Torts is obviously not there anymore). The hate, it lingers...

Yup. Kid's apparently a thoroughbred...no actin' like he's a mule.
That was a seriously quick move.
Still, that doesn't mean someone hasn't got a legitimate issue with him pounding his 4th in a blowout. |

Phoenix game is up for grabs imo.
The other 3? Pray and hope to the hockey gods they play better than they have these first four games or it will get ugly(ier). |

Ed Snider is like the US government. He tells you there is hope, states useless facts to justify his agenda and repeats. The sheep scream HOPE than nothing happens, so they lash out slightly only to be told there is hope again. This process repeats as needed when the sheep need to be put in check again. - Glak18

You know why you keep hearing it? Because by being vague it covers up the real problems, the people really accountable. It's propaganda to buy time and the dum dums eat it up. Fans say it because they are clueless. They hear it on the radio and give other people's opinions because they don't have one of their own. Every team that loses a game, no matter the sport, can say "Oh we need better effort". So if a team wins more than it loses then they show more competitiveness? Nashville use to be one of the hardest working teams in the NHL, but they didn't win...do they need more competitiveness? No, it's just the dumbest excuse there is. - Glak18
Since you stated that education is so important in this Country. I'll do my small part here! There's a big difference between cliche's spoken in press conferences to reporter's. Such as Andy Reid's "we need to give a better effort". Just because he doesn't want to go into deep detail what the specific issues are, and he's just answering questions. Versus a situation that the Flyers currently have, that got their Coach fired. And make no mistake about it. Lack of competitiveness, and intensity, is what got Laviolette fired. This team is a better team then what they've shown through the first 4 games. Their talent level is much higher then their record and level of play to this point suggests. The Flyers have been outworked in pretty much every game this Season. There's one thing in sports that remains pretty true. The best collection of players doesn't win. The best team does. How they play as a cohesive unit. With extra effort and determination behind it. The Flyers not only aren't playing very well as a team. But they aren't matching the competitiveness of the competition. That's why they're 1-3, and that's why the Coach got fired. And the only reason they won last night, was because of Mason.
Now with that being said, if the Flyers get their team play solidified, and energize their compete level, they can be a solid team and a playoff team. But they are likely a few moves, and some maturation of players away from truly being a contender.
So when you're comparing the situation in Nashville, and why they never went farther, to the situation currently here with the Flyers. It's apples and oranges. But teams like Ottawa last year, showed what can be done with solid team play, and simple determination and outworking the opposition. |

Blame voters who only vote party lines regardless of what the politicans say or do.
Gerrymandering isn't all that bad. Its a balancing act for the parties.

Actually it's a way for the party in power to subvert democracy. Which is why the Republicans ended up with a big majority in the House despite having fewer overall votes cast for them.

You're right, the best talent alone does not win games. Yes, you need effort, determination, competitiveness. I'm just not sure this collection of players has those qualities and I'm also not sure that changing the coach will improve the team in those areas. The Flyers teams that won under Lavilette had players like Pronger, Laperriere, Richards, Briere, Jagr. I think it was more the influence of these players that upped the collective effort and commitment to the game plan than the coach.
