I think it's going to get better. I expect more energy from them in the future. They got outworked over the majority of the game by Florida. They still spent large chunks of time in their own end. The PP isn't clicking. And they aren't getting a spark from anyone. It's not going to happen overnight. - MJL
I know from when our new coach came in last year, we had to learn a whole new system and it took us awhile to start playing witholut thinking. Granted these guys are pros and have been playing since walking but I still think it will take time to adapt to the change |

You're right, the best talent alone does not win games. Yes, you need effort, determination, competitiveness. I'm just not sure this collection of players has those qualities and I'm also not sure that changing the coach will improve the team in those areas. The Flyers teams that won under Lavilette had players like Pronger, Laperriere, Richards, Briere, Jagr. I think it was more the influence of these players that upped the collective effort and commitment to the game plan than the coach. - Dkos
That may or may not be true. There's no question that those players had a lot of influence. You just don't replace Chris Pronger. So this organization needs to identify and weed out any players that don't have the qualities that they're looking for. But I for one beleive that this team can play much better, and more cohesive Hockey then it currently is. We'll find out. |

I don't think there's any question about that. We need to give it a little time. I think the individual mistakes can be cleaned up. But I need to see more heart and intensity out there. |

mason was excellent. pretty much what we've seen from him since his acquisition. the team in front of him is still a giant mess. i don't like the giroux line combo at all. at least not right now. the d seems like it's comprised of 6 derian hatchers with no knees.
i doubt rosemont's antics will have any impact on keeping him out of the lineup. i mean, after chief spanks him, there's not much more he can do.
it's going to be awhile before this team gets any better. |

Mason single handidly won that game for them. If there is going to be true accountability, Rosehill should sit for a while. |

It is hockey season. So for the most part, talk hockey in this forum. If you would like to talk politics, you may (as many of you as would like to talk politics) make an ultra fun politics thread in the Misc. Lounge and talk it til you are blue (or red) in the face.
Thank you. |

Mason was fantastic. I really hope he keeps up his generally awesome play for the entire year, and we can start banking on him as our #1 guy. Emery has been solid as well, but there are still many things this team needs to sort out to win consistently. PP horrid.. 5 on 5 play consisted of getting hemmed in our zone forminutes at a time and praying to get it to the neutral zone.. yikes. |

Putting Giroux with Simmonds and Hartnell is not a good idea IMO. He needs more skill with him. |

no doubt about it. as a goalie, it pisses me off that the one goal that got by him was the result of a rebound off a blocked shot by his own dman. i appreciate guys throwing their bodies down and trying to help out, but sometimes, it's better to just let the real goalie try to stop the puck instead of 3 street hockey goalies at the same time.
if berube is true to his word about accountability, rosemont will be in the cote suite against the yotes. maybe even beyond that. |

Actually it's a way for the party in power to subvert democracy. Which is why the Republicans ended up with a big majority in the House despite having fewer overall votes cast for them.

How did democrats lost the house when did their gerrymandering? |

B Schenn is having a strong Season to this point. He's going to the net strong and he's been rewarded. L. Schenn has been disappointing to this point in my opinion. |

i don't think barkov put the puck where he wanted...he ended up hitting him kind of in the middle/on top of the thigh, rather than further back toward the post, but even if he had, mason's pad was in the way to make the stop. fanstastic. he was so square. economy of movement. great rebound control. total command of his game. really fun to watch. |
