After Game 3, I was calling him Not Smartnell. And I love the guy...

Danny Trejo (from Machete Kills) was at the game as part of his Philly-circuit film promotion. He gave a pretty funny interview decked out in a Flyers' jersey. Towards the end, he had a fantastic quote. "It doesn't matter what you like doing as long as you like having fun like you all are here watching the...um... (looks at the scoreboard) ...the Flyers. You'll have fun at my movie."

Actually, the best part was his female co-star, but I loved that he just totally forgot the name he probably learned 3 minutes ago.

We all got a good laugh from Berube's reaction to Sielski's question about punishing Rosehill, but Sielski has a good point. Berube stated that one of the things he's going to change on this team is accountability. So, where's the accountability for Rosehill? Check out Sielski's Inqy column

that article pissed me off. We have NO idea what Berube intends to do or already did to address this. I'm sure Berube is keeping it in house. No reason to publically rip Rosehill.

You can't possibly be serious? He scored over 700 goals, and it wasn't by avoiding contact and staying in soft areas. One of the most famous goals he scored was at the front of the net. That's just making stuff up!

Since we are debating luck...

I dont think teams literally create luck, but by working hard and being in the right place at the right time, tend to take plays that would be seemingly harmless and turn them into more fortunate situations. They figuratively create their own luck. Physically, by working hard and being in the right spots they generate a chance to capitalize on those fortunate situations.

Rinaldo is the perfect 4th line player right now. He doesn't need to grow into anything else. His 10 mins of ice time is the max he should ever get

Rinaldo has been playing some responsible hockey (carryover from late last year). I wouldn't mind rewarding his hustle and experimenting with Rinaldo at higher lines. He has the speed to play on any line. On the four line he is a wrecking ball and creates turnovers, but Hall/Rosehill/Newbury don't have the ability to cash in. Put him with Coots/Read - Rinaldo does the forecheck and dirty work in the corners, Coots gathers the loose puck and passes to Read who scores - rinse and repeat! Zack can't be worse than Talbot - who has been steady, but invisible (great on the PK). If Talbot and Hall were on line 4, they could handle more minutes (especially, if we were ahead). Hell, I'd even try Zack with G on line one. May Rinaldo's energy will boost G's game. Have Simmonds or Hartnell camp in front of the net - where skating is not a perquisite.

He was cherry-picking behind the D on that play, Danny B style -- there was no crease-crashing, or fighting for position... the puck squirted to him, and he put it in.

So you dispute that the front of the net is not a soft area of the ice? And watch the replay. He got in behind the defense, and scored. But not one but two players took runs at him. One before and one after the puck went in the net. So he clearly wasn't trying to avoid contact. But I'm done with this now, because the premise you offer is ridiculous, and nothing more needs to be said on it.

3rd line also closed out the game which should send a message. G and Simmonds looked annoyed on the bench before that final change. Hopefully they were annoyed at their play and not the coachs decision

Absolutely. However, as far as playing on the top 2 lines, it almost seems like biting off your nose to spite your face. I mean, I'll work as hard as they want, but there's a limit to my ability. If one of the top 6 is slacking, I'm not opposed to a shift here or there, but I wouldn't want him playing there consistently.

I just hate the columns that shred things without offering insight at what the author feels would correct the issues. Anyone can sit there and say that the Culture is bad, but not offer tangible ideas on how to fix it.

Like when I called for Laviolette to get fired, I listed 6 or 7 coaches that I would have liked to see them replace him with. Seems fruitless to me to do it otherwise, because then it's just complaining.

That piece is little more than a pre-emptive criticism because Berube told the writer to get lost. He's automatically assuming that Berube will not discipline Rosehill because he got yelled at by Snider and Berube after his questions.

Can't ask tough questions and not expect a degree of hostility. Can't come in and lob grenades and not expect some fire being returned.

I still think Giroux and Voracek should stay together, so I'd like to see a Simmonds-G-Voracek line and bump Hartnell to the second line with Schenn and Vinny.

Exactly even if hartnell has to get dropped to the third with what he isn't producing at all there but that third line would be great. Still think hartnell has something in him to score so I would keep on the second but if he still doesn't produce then you need to find him an easier role. I want more skill on that first line too which im not sure right now hartnell is providing. still have hope for this team.

It's fresh air to see that no one here is saying that the Flyers "whooped" the Panthers like every moron on tv is. I'll say it.. we should have won. Both of your goals came off ridiculous bounces and the second one came after Thomas got hurt. This being said we didn't capitalize on the PP when we should have. Mason was a freaking wall all night. Flyers didn't look like the usual force that I am accustomed to seeing. Maybe it was just me.

And Rosehill.. guy is a bafoon.

Watch how he just backs off after the faceoff... he doesn't tie his guy up or make any pretense at helping out.

Notice how he would rather skate behind/around defenders when he doesn't have the puck, even if his teammates need help or a passing outlet.

You might also see that he doesn't initiate any body contact once on that shift, despite it being OT in a Cup deciding game. Sure, he gets run at once in the corner, but he ducks and then slips away.

Despite this, he's behind the D before they know it and he doesn't get touched until after the puck is already in, Stanley Cup won.
