not me. there's no "proper way to tank". they weren't going to make it. they should gotten full value out of that clown show of a season and didn't. - hammarby31
sigh
short of telling your players to shoot on their own goalie, im not sure how you guarantee losses.
again, they dressed an AHL defense |

Well, say they had sucked, and along with that, assume Mason hadn't played well. Say that further erodes his confidence and he has issues rebounding this year. His play was a big part of the success they had late, down the stretch.
It happened, and unfortunately it didn't end up being good for a carryover. I'm not going to complain too much about it, just hope that they're on the right track now, under Berube. - Jsaquella
i'm glad mason played well. i get that. i would have preferred he played well and still lost. that's just me.
coach 2: electric bugaloo is going to be a work in progress. i accept that. i was prepared for this be a growth year anyway. let's hope it is. |

oh please
if they didnt change a thing and somehow won those last few games you would still be complaining that they didnt tank properly - Crimsoninja
In all seriousness.... They won their last 4 games... 8 points.
They finished the season with 49 points and picked 11th. Had they finished with evern 43 points they would have picked 8th and could have taken Risto, Horvat or Nichushkin... had they finished with 41 they would have had a shot at Lindholm, Monahan or Nurse as well.
Did those 4 wins at the end of a TERRIBLE season mean poop to you?
EDIT: I just find it funny that even when they suck they have no luck. By far worst in the league.. dont get the top pick and miss out on Kane.
All season long in the running for a top 5 pick until the last week where they win 4 straight and push their draft spot back to 11th.

Do you find it amazing that the Pens, and Hawks parlayed cluster(frank) seasons into Crosby, and Kane, while the Flyers season from hell had a net result of Luke Schenn?
It boggles the mind. |

The one thing I'm bummed about is that the late run might have saved Laviolette's job for the summer and 3 games. I would have rather seen them make the change in the spring, even if it was Berube at that time. |

Are we ready to move some young talent to get a young #1 puck moving dman yet or are we still stuck on how great our offense is going to be. - SMS4016
I'm never ready to move young talent unless I get similarly aged talent in return. |

of course not. and they didn't mean anything in real value to the team either. |

True... but they have been on the PK a fair amount as well. In Montreal and Carolina. - PLindbergh31
I looked up his ice time:
Toronto - 0:00 PP, 0:49 SH, 14:39 Total
Montreal - 0:05 PP, 4:02 SH, 12:52 total
Carolina - 0:00 PP, 3:06 SH, 18;56 total
Florida - 0:00 PP, 3:12 SH, 14:16 total
Schenn was at his best last year when he was eating up major minutes.

If the draft chart they showed in Flight Plan is any indication, They were going to take Morin at 6 or 7, had they ended up there. |

Start bryz instead of mason would have been a good start - SMS4016
From the Flight Plan video it seemed like they had Morin ranked 6th on their draft board, so anything short of playing six skaters and no goalie wouldn't have got them to a high enough spot to change their pick.
As I said many times last year, if you want to support a team that tanks, you'll need to pick another team. |

I get your point guy... Im just saying that it sucks that they were not able to tank. Unless you go out and tell your goalie to let in a few weak ones, or your forwards to look for 6 passes before you shoot... tankin aint easy. Wasnt that hard to understand. |

No worries. The Devils will be there soon enough. 6 regulars over 35. That bodes well for 22 back to backs this year. |

We just need a great, expensive goalie like Lundqvist and a young stud defensman like McDonagh and then we'd be at the top of the division with the Rangers. |

I'm sure Calgary was delighted when Trevor Kidd was still available at #11 and stuck the Debs with Brodeur at #20.

Yea.. I refuse to believe that... I cant. For a few weeks I truly believe we were top 3 pick material.

This and the draft pick. I'm not saying tank and I don't see how you pull that off anyhow but I'd have been much happier if they had lost out. I stopped watching at that point anyhow. I just waited for the scores to come in on my phone and let the expletives fly. |

Absolutely... I pray Morin turns out to be the steal of the class.. and I would cheer and root for whoever it was they picked... but if you have a choice of the 5th pick or the 11th pick.. you will always take the 5th.. |
