Well if it's the GM's job, why do you repeatedly make statements such as "People need to start thinking this way" and "people need to wake up!"
- MJL
Because a lot of flyers fan just go with whatever flyers say. We don't need to change we do what we want. Well no cup in 38 years should humble this organization a little. I don't need staTs on how many times in the finals, playoffs, blah blah blah the point is that Ed and the boys don't understand is no cup in 38 years do they must have done something wrong. The Ed and company tantrum is almost as bad as congress. |

well watching them play offense and suck at it was pretty boring
lets see how the changes work out - 2Real
I still say a huge reason behind that is the D is not built to have any transition or speed game to it.
I liked, and will miss the "hunt the puck". |

Like I said we can wait 20 games and when we suck still more people will be calling for something major to be done and well be in a weaker trading position. If not if we win 12 to 15 of the next 20 I'll be on here eatIng crow and saying I jumped the gun. I'll admit it. - SMS4016
They couldn't possibly be in a weaker trading position then they are right now.

as long as we're not reduced to playing a neutral zone trap, I think I'll be ok... maybe.

I think it's pretty clear from reading this thread every day, that a lot of Flyers fans don't just go with whatever the Flyers say. You can't tell someone that the GM makes the decisions, when it's you yourself who keeps referencing and saying people need to think differently. Especially when you badly misrepresent how people are thinking.

The way the Flyers were trying to play last night, is the same way that teams like Boston, Chicago, and LA play. It is far from a so called boring defense first style. Not even close.

Could just be my crazy thoughts, but that game yesterday was boring.
I really dread them becoming one of those really hardcore defense first teams. Sure it may get you wins, but its boring as (frank).
I liked when they had the balls to be one of the few aggressive clubs in the league. (Chicago, Detriot, Colorado, San Jose, Oilers, Pittsburgh) - flyer_nutter
Not to mention that they didn't deserve to win. 2 lucky bs goals and mason stole that win |

Really? I'm mirepresenting you? Did you not say not to trade coots 10 months ago because he was going to be a selke winner one day and not to trade read because he is so versatile. ? |

I'm still a little concerned with Giroux - he still doesn't quite look himself out there. Hartnell is kind of lost too it seems but he's always taken a few weeks to get going based on his seasons with the Flyers. Timonen probably scares me the most though as he looks slower than ever. |

When you state that most fans always go along with what the Flyers say, yes, you're misrepresenting what people say. And I've said a lot of things in the past. Including that the trade proposals that you make, including Subban for Couturier are unrealistic.

If they win a Stanley Cup, it won't be boring at all for me. Don;t care f they do it like the Oilers or like the Devils. |

Because most flyers Fan overrate g. I wouldn't be shocked if he never hits 90 point season again. Yes he's good and yes he can dominate at times but maybe we need to consider his 90 point season was a top season for him. Remember briere hit 90 points once in buffalo and never again. [/img] |

And this team has a loooooong way to go so if coots for gardiner were possible do the deal. People need to start thinking this way. Maybe not a number one today but what about in 3 years? Like pietreangelo, oel, karlsson,? The trick is to identify them and not be afraid to give up assets to land them. Difficult? Yes. Impossible? Hell no. - SMS4016
If other GMs around the league started thinking like you....
e.g. They accept your proposed deals
....then we'd have a metric poop ton of Jay Feasters |

Here we go again with what most Flyers fans say. As if how many points Giroux scores, is dependent on how fans rate Giroux. If Giroux is a consistent 80 point scorer, and he improves his overall game, then I'm fine with that. |

So no one can ever win with you. If someone states trade coots for subban you say it's unrealistic and if someone says overpay in a trade then that's ridiculous right? Are you actually bill posing as a different person to drum up hits on his blog? You seem to have this problem with many different posters. I wonder sometimes |

Montreal is not going to trade Subban for Couturier. That makes it unrealistic. I have not once stated that overpaying for the right player is ridiculous. I'm in favor of that for the right player. But like I said, it's not playstation, and it's not fantasy hockey. The other teams GM has to agree to trade the player.

I should have been more clear. I wasnt bored by last night's game, but at the same time I didnt really see a huge improvement over the kind of team game that they'd played in the first three games. Now, its possible that the fact that they'd played three games in four nights and all of them in different cities had at least something to do with how they looked last night.
They did capitalize on a couple of monumental Florida gaffes, and came very close to cashing in on at least one other (Talbot's shorthanded chance). So that at least was good to see.
They're not The Skating Dead right now, so I'll reserve further judgement until we see how Berube's adjustments pan out.

GoD knows no one critize g. What if he puts up 60 to 70 points and doesn't mSke players around him better? Being that he is the captain and making 8 mil salary cap hit can we critize him then? |

Lemme say this very slowly:
An unrealistic trade = Coots for Subban, because MTL would NEVER take that in a million years
Overpaying = Schenn, Schenn, Laughton, Morin, and 2 1st for Weber, because this is way too much to give for one player
We enjoy proposed deals and the discussions they cause, however the deals need to be BETWEEN these 2 extremes, because both will never happen; the former in the eyes of MTL's GM, and the latter in Homer's eyes.
Yours, if I remember correctly, usually fall on the "unrealistic" side of things. Which is why they are dismissed.

I didn't state that Giroux can't be criticized. In fact just the other day I criticized for his poor play this Season to date. I've criticized him multiple times in the past for his poor defensive play at even strength.

Knowing what I know now, yes. Back then I would've said no. In fact I remember some other posters suggesting trading Couturier for Subban. I said I wouldn't. I was wrong about that. If, and with if being the key word, that deal was available, I would've been mistaken for turning it down.

But if you remember back 10 months ago subban wasn't signed and was verge of being moved. He hadn't one Norris yet. Different ti
E. If we offered coots read and a 1st Montreal would have jumped. We would be saying we overPayed. Now it wouldn't even be close to getting deal done capice.

My reply wasn't really meant towards you. I think what you said here is reasonable. Normally I would give them the 3 games in 4 nights pass. But the Coach was just fired. I expected more fire in their game. But I'm with you on your last statement.
