I'd be open to that. Phaneuf plays well against some of the toughest competition out there. - Jsaquella
Despite his douchiness, I'd like having Phaneuf. He's better than any Dman we have now. |

I'm guessing there should be about 30 of them. |

I felt JVR had a concussion. Stumbled a little because of the expectations he set against Boston in the playoffs but I thought he was developing fine.
Didn't like the trade. I thought we sold extremely low. Didn't like the return.

He was a nice compliment to Desjardins, but I'm not buying the shutdown stuff. - PLindbergh31
Desjardins was a legit number one, though, at least for most of his time in Philly. Therien was a good, capable top four guy. Had a good, solid NHL career. |

His attitude is too casual to be a perennial threat... like Carter, Lupul or Wheeler, I'm sure he'll have a great season or two, but there's just not enough "hates-to-lose" in him to expect that he'll be a consistent threat. - Tomahawk
I know. I always felt he'd be a very good 2nd line forward. That way he wouldn't have the expectations to play well every night. I don't think he could handle that burden.
Guys that you mentioned above all fit that mold too. |

The way I see it, some team shave multiples (Chicago has Keith/Seabrook) and some teams have none (Flyers USED to have 2, now none). |

Me too.
Dion's a lightning rod for haters, but there's really not too much to dislike about his game. |

We're debating Byfuglien, Phaneuf, team nicknames and I'm fixing to have a beer. |

Byfuglien is the answer/not worth it.
L. Schenn is a top pair candidate/should be taken out back to the shed and shot
Timonen is a top pair defenseman/Timonen should follow right behind L.Schenn. |

Yea. I just want to see what he feels constitutes a #1.
Is it a guy who scores a lot?
A guy who shuts stars down?
A guy who can do both? |

A one-way defensive dman that doesn't get totally exposed with a huge workload is pretty valuable... if Schenn can become that kind of player, the Flyers have to be pretty content.
They just reaaalllly need to find the next Rico. |

It'd be awesome if Hagg could be that some day. Hell, even if Hagg could be Kim Johnsson, it'd be a nice thing to have. |

Is it just me or is the 2014 UFA list deep with talent? I don't think it would be aweful if at the deadline the Flyers dropped a lot of high priced players to make room for some of these guys. |

Good! I don't think there's enough of us to fill a row boat though.
Sad thing is we won't feel any satisfaction when everyone wants to trade Luke Schenn and JVR is lighting the lamp consistently and putting on his playoff face in T.O. We'll just be angrier.

Cut that list in half by the end of the year. Most guys will re-sign |
