Only Problem with vanek is if he gets to free agency he's going to minn. Went to college there and his wife is from there. No sense trading for him unless he agrees to contract extention 1rst. |

Is Ehrhoff that much of an upgrade over anything we have? I know little about him. - JAKEw1234
I know my German buddy is good friends with him and played with him through high school. Wouldn't mind acquiring him and hanging out with some flyers |

Go to the strip clubs. You'll find plenty of flyers there |

He'd have to agree to a extension with Buffalo, not the Flyers. And that could limit Buffalo's options. |

I'm not a hockey guru like most on this site, but Streit's play hasn't bothered me at all. Watching him compared to Gervais and Foster is like night and day. |

I'm with you. I've been pleased with what I've seen so far. I think when they get their team game straightened out, he'll be even better in terms of puck movement and offense.

WE could trade for him with the understanding he would resign with us once he got here. That's the only way buffalo is getting anything good in a trade for him. Or else he's just an expensive rental. |

Buffalo is not going to let the Flyers or anyone talk to Vanek before agreeing to a trade. I'm sure the Flyers wouldn't approach it as a rental. Top players are traded as rentals, all the time, for top assets in return at the trade deadline. Especially when teams are bidding against one another for a players services. |

I agree with this...he's been the best dman when the puck is on his stick, and I really like him qbing the PP.
Timonen I'm not even worried about either. He usually starts out slow |

Oh I see your point. But in turn players talk. Agents talk. Philly would know if vanek was going to resign. They would have basic contract agreed to before trading for him. Tampering? Yes. Happens all the time. Now if he is traded to scream that just wants him for a rental then no need to tamper but I'd think if Philly made a play for him it would be with the intention of the long hual |

Tampering doesn't happen all the time. Teams aren't going to take that risk. The penalties are severe.
Definitely agree that the Flyers would be doing it for the long haul. |

Sure, but you are comparing guys who were signed to be depth dmen in Gervais and Foster to a player in Streit who the Flyers made a big financial commitment to.
Jury is still out on Streit. |

I think we know what Streit is as a player. The question is if he can remain the same player throughout the life of the deal.

Streit isn't seeing first unit PP time. That coupled with he's a liability in his own end and I'm not excited about him. He's an adequate puck mover, but he doesn't skate that well, and isn't remotely physical.

Best GAA and SV% in the OHL. While impressive, the team in front of him is stacked.
Can't wait to see him with the Phantoms next year |

Switched over to the Oshawa game, the announcers whined about the OHL rules with suspensions that they felt Laughton shouldn't have been allowed to serve the end of his suspension while he was at Flyers camp.
They felt he should have had to serve once he was returned to Oshawa, but that's not how OHL rules are with suspensions. |

Streit is leading all Flyers defenseman in PP ice time, and is second only to Giroux in PP ice time. While I don't think he is a strong defender, I don't think he's been a liability defensively. There's going to be some situations where he's going to get knocked off the puck. You know what you're getting with Streit. You know you're not getting a physical player. I want Streit on the #1 PP unit, and I said that multiple times before the Season started. But it's pretty obvious so far that both Streit and Lecavalier, have made the 2nd unit better in terms of how it looks. They haven't scored many PP goals yet, but I think that's going to change. And Streit is far from just adequate as a puck mover. He's a very good puck mover. And he brings a dynamic offensive presence.

The majority didn't like the Streit signing, largely based on the contract terms. I agree with that sentiment. |
