Homer says MRIs on Vinny and Hartnell show hart will be out 2-4 weeks: Vin 1 week. - opeth_pa .
That's about as good as we could've hoped for. |

am I the only one to think trading a forward(s) is not trading from strength on this team for a dman? I mean, I can see trading grit (a hartnell or Simmonds type) for skill but I just don't see the flyers having enough depth to trade forwards otherwise - nastyflyergirl
Hard to say, they need to tweak the defense, and change the mix a little. So you have to give to get. Flyers have one of the deeper forward corps in the League. |

Well just briefly reading through the thread, I'm glad I was busy today and didn't have much time for Hockeybuzz. I know it's bad and fans are frustrated. But tons of overreactions. Who knows how many players have been declared no good, overrated, to old, to expensive, etc. As an example, Luke Schenn had a strong Season last year. Played a lot of monster games. But now after 5 games, he can no longer play. It's crazy. And the trade for JVR has been declared a bust. My only question is when or if JVR goes through a rough patch, will the trade then be a good trade again? - MJL
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say "yes" to that. |

Not saying Schenectady is a bust, but my opinion, now and at the time, is they undersold and didn't get enough back. You also said as much and I can't see how your mind has changed and if it has I have no desire to continue the disscussion |

My initial emotional response to the trade was negative. But keeping an open mind, and watching L. Schenn play, they got enough in my opinion. And it was a very good trade for the Flyers. Schenn's slow start to the Season doesn't change that. I think JVR is overrated by many. Not saying he's not a good player. But with the importance of defense, and how hard it is to get quality young defenseman, I'm very happy with the trade.

I understand what you're saying here, and it's true.
But one thing I fervently believe is that when you have a bad team, you'd better be careful at slapping the label of "core player" on every single player that moves, just because they're young...because you're a bad team. SOMEBODY can't play. Somebody is overrated. Somebody is not good enough.
Because you're a bad team. SOMEBODY needs to go, and better players need to come.
I don't want them to just dump players. But I'm not married to anybody on a roster that isn't winning.
