Then who has been?
1. Coburn
2. Streit
3. Kimmo
4. Schenn
5. Grossmann
6. Mezzy
Atleast Schenn has done something. Mezzy getting Pp, lots of chances and has done jack poop
Who cares, the guy isn't near the dman he once was. He deserves to sit when the team is 1-4 and STRUGGLING. Changes have to be made.
You were the one that said to me a few months back that Gue would 100% be in the starting lineup day 1 for Mezzy or Grossmann so why do u have a problem with this? - FLYERSROCK!
Don't put statements in my mouth. If you're going to attribute a statement to me, be accurate. If any defenseman deserves to sit it's Luke Schenn. He has not had a good start to the Season. He is seeing his ice time cut in key moments of games. Such as with the lead in the 3rd period of the Florida game. His ice time should be increased at that point in time, not decreased.
Meszaros is coming off multiple serious injuries, and has not played a lot of hockey in the last year or so. He has gotten steadily better each game since looking really bad and rusty in pre season.

We clearly disagree on Meszaros -- he has been...you know what? I won't be cruel. He won't be missed in the lineup. - AllInForFlyers
So there's no chance that Gustafsson could struggle? Meszaros has been one the better defenseman on the team the last few games.

Flat out false |
|
|
|
Grossmann has been playing extremely well past 2 games, him and Coburn have even excellent.
Schenn is the only other option and really he's done more right then wrong.
So who (frank)ing cares.
Gonna take out kimmo or Streit? Didn't think so - FLYERSROCK!
i actually didn't think grossmann played so well against phoenix |

What's your definition of struggling? I don't expect Erik Gustafsson to win the Norris Trophy tonight. I expect him to be what he is, at this stage of his career: Faster than Meszaros, a better puck carrier than Meszaros, and display better offensive instincts than Meszaros.
Will it be enough to keep him in the lineup? Will it be enough for the Flyers to win and start scoring goals?
Don't know. I just know that, again, sitting a third-pairing defenseman when you're 1-4 isn't an outlandish proposition, and Erik Gustafsson brings things to the table that Andrej Meszaros doesn't.
We'll see if it works or not. But they absolutely should be doing it.

i would sit kimmo in a second he has been just as bad as the rest of them just cause he carries a 6 mil price tag doesn't mean he should get to play when his play hasn't been up to par |

Only way the "sit" him is if there's an injury. |

With they way they've been playing DVring is the best way to go. After that stupid Rinaldo penalty that lead to the goal i knew it was over and just FF and saved myself the headache. |

Meszaros when healthy is a pretty decent offensive producer as a defenseman. it remains to be seen how Gustafsson does. But Gustafsson hasn't proven anything to state that he's better then Meszaros at anything. That remains to be seen.
What specifically does Gustafsson bring to the table that Meszaros doesn't?
And I'll again reiterate, that I have no problem with Gustafsson in the lineup. We need to find out what we have in him. The Flyers need to break in some young defenseman. And Gustafsson shows some promise. |

Couturier reminds me of a tall lanky Ron Sutter. Almost no offensive instincts. I really don't see him developing offensively. |

He is 20 years old, he has literally hundreds of NHL games left to play before we can confidentially say he won't develop an offensive game. |

What the hell was Grossmann doing? He could have been called for interference there. |

Looks like Voracek's back has been reinjured thanks to a non-called Kronwall crosscheck. |
