Our passing is something that needs to be addressed.
Starting with Claude "No Look Backhand Pass" Giroux.
Seriously, they need a short, crisp, tape-to-tape clinic. And they also need to realize it's not a hot (frank)ing potato all the time. Take a breath, look around...you might actually be able to skate it out of the zone... What, what!? |

He was solid. Raffl and McGinn had good games once they settled down. Read was good and Gus was very good.
The D, in general, was below average, as was Emery. Part of that was all the PPs we gave Detroit.
G and Jake seemed to have more jump, but we rightly should expect a lot more from them. My opinion of Simmonds is sinking with every passing game... - wolfhounds
Simmonds' play has definitely been subpar this year, but he took some friendly fire and got cut tonight. He's a completely different player once he bleeds. His time is now. |

i agree that fluff pass by kimmo on the power play was a perfect example rushing the pass like it will explode if they don't |

Overall poor team speed causes less time to look around, causing you to not hit tape, causing you to dunp/pass to opponent , causing you to chase when they bring it right back in your zone. |

I hope so. We all know he's got grit, he just needs to remove the cement from his gloves and skates and start producing. But, he's got a lot of company there. |

Two questions. Which direction is that? And how would you suggest they do that? - MJL
Sorry for the delay, had to put my daughter to bed.
Don't trade a 4th rd pick for Gagne.
Trade Timo to a playoff contender of his choice if he waives.
Trade any aging asset for the best offer available.
Keep young players, but cut bait with aging assets others would want.
You end up with 4, 34, 64(5), 94(5)... With extra picks for what was traded.
Stop trying to chase fools Gold. I blame Snyder!

has anyone listened to the chief's post game ... basically said the team played better but the bad penalties had to stop and once they start skating better they will... then addressed the fact the this organization takes far to many penalties and has for to long.....wow couldn't have said that better myself |

The team did look good. I hope Berube does a shooting intensive practice or two so we can improve a bit at finishing our chances. This is the 2nd straight game now that Simmer has missed an empty net. Gettin the chances, but our shots are going either into the goalie or wide. |

Schenn has been, for the most part, unfairly picked on thus far.
I'm off to bed. It was a good biochem allnighter |

Simmonds was all over the ice, very noticeable.
I know he isn't finishing but he is getting grade A chances.
I think he is about to go on a scoring streak.
Penalties killed them, nothing new.
I am starting to like Berube and have a feeling he will get things turned around. At least the players seem to be buying into what he is telling them.
I didn't have that feeling with Lavi for a while. |

Well just briefly reading through the thread, I'm glad I was busy today and didn't have much time for Hockeybuzz. I know it's bad and fans are frustrated. But tons of overreactions. Who knows how many players have been declared no good, overrated, to old, to expensive, etc. As an example, Luke Schenn had a strong Season last year. Played a lot of monster games. But now after 5 games, he can no longer play. It's crazy. And the trade for JVR has been declared a bust. My only question is when or if JVR goes through a rough patch, will the trade then be a good trade again? - MJL
Your statement only focuses on 1/2 the equation. For it to be a good trade, Luke Schenn has to play well and be a stud defenseman whether or not JVR does good or not.
If Luke Schenn plays bad - BAD trade no matter how JVR does.
If JVR goes on to be a stud and Schenn is merely a top 4 dman then it is also a bad trade
Through the 1.1 seasons JVR is blowing Schenn away. JVR was on pace for nearly 40 goals on the 1st line of a playoff team last year and is exceeding that pace this year so far.
JVR is playing 21+ minutes a night, Schenn 14.
I really don't think there is an argument to be made on who won the JVR/Schenn trade at this time in favor of the Flyers.
In your hypothetical situation, how far would JVR have to fall and for how long for this to be a good trade? Your hypothetical was pretty broad. In my mind it would have to be a pretty staggering fall from grace for JVR. |
