He's had a rough year. When he gets back on track he is a player that will generate a lot of interest from teams.

With Simmonds being locked up and the severe lack of skill on the wing I dont know how much more time Hartnell has in Philly but he isn't the unmovable player people think he is. There are a lot of teams missing that type of player in their top 6.

He doesn't strike me as the type of guy to hold out if a team wants to make a change though. He wouldn't likely want to go to Edmonton or Columbus but I don't think he's going to nix any and every deal either.

It pains me to say this because I have all the respect in the world for him but the dman who needs to sit is Timonen. He has clearly lost a step and just seems unable to defend without holding. Perhaps a contender who can afford to limit his minutes would be interested, but unless his play picks up, I just don't see it.

If they're not over .500 by January, I would look to move the following players for prospects and picks, assuming some are willing to waive no movement/trade clauses to go to a contender:
Timonen
Hartnell
Mezaros
Grossmann
Lacavalier
Emery

I would consider moving Streit, but I highly doubt anyone would take on his contract.

Crazy when you think about skilled guys who just wake up one morning and don't have it anymore. I remember when the Lock out happened and the game changed the amount of great players became crap that was mostly a speed issue but the Eric Daze's and so on.

Didn't mean he is one, but if he can bring more heart, energy, and hard work than Hartnell, and produce good numbers, I wouldn't mind seeing Hartnell moved for our biggest need
