Why are you convinced they won't get value for them? I hope the Oilers are at least looking at what's available for those guys. And yes, it's stupid to look at deficiencies in goal and on defense (mostly in goal) and continue to draft skilled forwards. I'm not saying they have to draft a goalie, but all those high first round picks would have gone a long way in a trade for one. You can deny it all you want, but there's an obvious flaw in Edmonton's strategy. - Jeffmt
Mact come in to late,he had to draft best player available and that was Nurse,MacT knew the goalie the Oil had was not a guarantee number one goalie and is why He try for Schneider etc. |

They have Kelfbom and now Nurse. That Belov guy looked good last night too. With J. Schultz and Ference in the fold I think they're fine on D.
But they made the same mistake we made for a while with our goalies. They were indecisive with Dubnyk. In the meantime some pretty good young goalies have changed hands the last couple years.
Previous management sat on their hands and ignored obvious opportunities to improve the team. I don't think Dubnyk is terrible, but he's certainly playing terrible. |

I think it's fair to say that no one, not even you, expected Dubnyk to poop the bed as much as he has to this point.
Flawed?... No. - OilDerek
I have never been sold on Dubnyk even from the numbers He had from last couple seasons,my believe is that those numbers got better because Dubnyk was playing with less pressure because the team was out from the playoff and played teams that were out as well and was not pressure, yes He did had his good games but to me his stats are a bit fake and so far is proving me correct. |

Dubnyk blows.................................. Dead goats.
I have never been a fan either... In fact I remember being angry when they chose him over Deslaurier. I wonder what ECHL team he is on now?

Established NHL players will always have more value than unproven draft picks. At this point, all those picks have more value. Where is the flaw? |

I said it before, and I'll say it again... This would make us a better team.
Yakupov + Marincin to Nashville for Seth Jones. We get a guy who is playing like he's been in the league for years, and we get another BBC to play with future top 2 D-man, Darnell Nurse. Nashville gets a a top line RW to help with offense (God knows they need it) and they get a very good defensive prospect. Win win for both teams. *Throw in a draft pick if need be (something like a 3rd)... I don't care about draft picks anymore*
Oilers offer their 2014 1st pick, plus a d-man not named Nurse, Schultz (and possibly Klefbom) to a team for a starting goaltender. Add a second too if you wish, I don't care... I'm sick of draft picks.
Boom! We get a starting goaltender, and Seth mutha (frank)ing Jones
Add in Gagner when he returns, and we're looking pretty (frank)ing good |

No, but apparently lehner is our savior. It's been 5 games and were out chancing every single team. Give Dubnyk 5 more starts to shape up. We have a solid team here and it's slowly getting healthy. I said this in the other thread. 3-1-1 and were back on track. Before the season started we were down our top two centers and we were praying for a .500 start. Ebs finally scored, hemmer is playing well, nuge is AWESOME, joensuu is a wonderful surprise and our d core is deeper than it has been since pronger and spacek. Have some patience and give Eakins system a chance. |

Which goaltender? which team? - TheTaoOfSemenko
I don't know, but if we offer up our 2014 1st pick, our 2014 2nd round pick, a d-man not named Nurse, Schultz (and possibly Klefbom) I'm thinking we'll get a response. |

Eberle isn't going anywhere. If any of the fab 5 are traded (which I don't think is happening anytime soon) it'll be Yak City. |

You're offering way too much in both deals, IMO. You want to offer a 1st overall, plus another decent prospect for a 4th overall? Then you think you have to give up a 1st (which might be top 8) plus another prospect for a starting goalie? Which starting goalie would that be? NJ gave up the 10th overall for an established young goalie. The Leafs gave up 2 fringe NHL'ers and a 2nd for Bernier (who everyone thought was ready).
